UConn Blog article on the United Soccer Coaches poll, which used to be known as the NSCAA Coaches poll. Anyway, this particular preseason poll has UConn men's soccer at No. 24 to start the season.

It's nice to see that the program's long history of success still allows them to get recognition in the preseason polls.
Having been an ardent fan since 1964, I would like to see this team return to hard nosed soccer, yeah they have skilled players but as I have said in the past, Ray Reid needs to recruit with a greater slant to position rather than pure ball skills.
I love UConn soccer and still wear my 1981 Friends of Soccer coat with pride but need to see some more consistent play

I'm glad to see them ranked. I remember when that was the norm, usually a higher ranking than this. Reid has kept the relevant, but they certainly seem to have slipped from the good old days.

Four out of the top five teams in the poll received first place votes. In addition, three UConn players were named to the All Conference team:
