We definitely got spoiled after 2011, and 2014 made it look easy. Particularly guys who hadn’t suffered through the near misses of the 1990’s , NC’s became a birthright.Looking at Gonzaga, you realize how many things have to go right to win one championship, let alone four.

That 2011 and 2014 both happened to UConn is the real insanity. I assume the AAC purgatory was some part of our side of the deal with the devil that was made to secure those two.

Agreed. Ollie is a great man and was a great coach at times. I hope that he regroups and comes back to lead another team. He has a lot to offer.Gotta give credit where credit is due. Can't say JC had outcoached his opponents without saying Ollie didn't.
Ollie beat Martelli, Jay Wright, Fred Hoiberg, Donovan, Izzo and Calipari. At least 3 of those coaches are or should be in the Hall of Fame.
And clutch free throws...Perfect storms, both times. The tl;dr explanation is: upperclassmen and guard play.

For those of us who suffered through that decade it seemed like a FF would not be in the cards let alone a NC.
We understand the pain of teams like Gonzaga.
Duke, MSS, Florida, UCLA , and Maryland are etched in our minds.

2014 was a surprise to me. After the big east tournament in 2011 I expected we would win it all. I imagine a lot of us felt that wayPerfect storms, both times. The tl;dr explanation is: upperclassmen and guard play.

The miracle would have been beating UNC in Greensboro. That was the previous season. no miracle needed in 99.
