"Joey California" joins Randy, Carey & Brooke before UConn's big Sweet 16 matchup tonight against Arkansas to talk about what led him to UConn after 4 years in San Diego, how he's taking advantage of the "Joey California" nickname and jumped into the NIL game, him roommate Adama Sanogo having a huge start to his tournament, hearing stories from his Dad about his DeSmet/UMSL days and what is what like growing up in such a basketball-heavy family.

"Joey California" was preceded by "Randy California". I'm sure the press was aware. A great story for those interested that was about Jimi Hendrix and a young kid named Randy Wolfe who actually wrote "Stairway to Heaven." Before Jimmy Page took it.

Are Red Hot Chili Peppers going to use his name on a song?
Been making that joke all year

“With a name like Joey California, day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya”

Gets a laugh about 40% of the time

Great interview. Sounded like the hosts did their homework.
And thankfully, the staff did their portal homework. Diarra's a nice pickup. Where's this team without Joey, alleyne and surely Newton? It's good to be UConn again...still.
