So you have all seen the trick on ESPN. Can they broadcast a game without showing in any way how empty the stands are? Tonight's Tuesday night game in Ohio between Ohio and Western Michigan is a prime example. Last weeks Tulsa upset over UCF in front of friends and family was another. ESPN has taken MAC games and American games and put them on as filler during the week like it is a privilege for the schools when it really impacts the schools athletes, fan base and attendance especially late in the season when the temps drop. When you put the Thursday NFL game up against a MAC or AAC game it is a real loser. By going independent will UCONN be done with these weeknight games outside of the opener which don't help the student athletes or the fans who have to work? I hope so.

We play our home games on whichever day our TV partner wants us to play.

And that is not just UConn....but all teams...including P5.

The media (ESPN, etc) are going to maximize their investment and tailor schedules to expected audiences.

Even the SEC plays off nights...Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miss State, Mizzou, Arkansas all play a non Saturday game.

The ACC plays a bunch of Thursday-Friday games...this Thursday, Pitt-UNC on ESPN....

It is just business.
