Hartford Athletic -2025

I agree it is interesting
Wondering if this is a way for the USL to somewhat absorb the MLS teams into one USA soccer league format. It could work but attracting the best players to Hartford will be hard without either using The Rent or building a soccer only professional stadium. I'm all for bringing the highest as possible brand/talent of soccer to CT.

They said that the current stadium could be expanded to meet the 19,000 minimum. It is in a good area that easy to access area with lots of parking.

MLS will never consider that. They charge a fortune for franchise additions. That goes away if there is a threat of relegation down the road.

Meanwhile, Hartford voted for pro/rel and the way they are going, rel is much more likely.

In case you were wondering, Hartford won a game on Saturday. That was big because I was honestly not sure we were going to win a game all year. I suggest all UConn hoop fans start following Athletic. It will help keep you grounded. You'll get a better understanding of what the fans of programs that try to compete with UConn are feeling.

Hartford Athletic actually won on Friday night. Not only that, according to American Soccer Analysis, they had the best xG in one game by any club since the 2021 season. No longer bottom of the table. By 1 point.

I didn't go but how this guy missed this break away chance...
There were many others. Twenty shots. TB gets one chance all game and bury it. Hartford Athletic football!

Just saw that. It looked like Hartford had so many more chances but I thought it was a homer video. So many headers just missing

Stumbled across the CBS Sports broadcast of HA versus New Mexico last night. Hartford scored 3 goals in the first 30 minutes. Not the best crowd (ESPN said it was 4,100 seemed like less) but they had a lot to cheer about. Not the best exhibition of soccer I've watched but fun.

Mamadou Dieng looks pretty good! With a name like that, of course he is! 2 goals and a few more great chances with some off the post.

No longer bottom of the table! And they made the knockout stage of the in season cup tournament. They are a team on the come, time to get on the bandwagon!

Loved the all the talking last week at Rhode Island as well. Don’t care if they are bottom of the table, that’s how rivalries really start. Dieng actually starting to show some really nice ball skills. Bit of a one trick pony last year with his headers.

Season ticket holder here since Day 1. Burke hasn’t gotten results but has been a bit unlucky this year, they are definitely improving and hopefully the results come.

They way they play like reminds me of some of the Central American national teams. Not much ball possession. Pretty much always back on defense. Playing long and direct out of the back trying for an advantage in transition.

I'm cautiously optimistic they turned the corner. Like you hinted they deserved a couple of better results and they waxed two good teams recently.

Hartford's back to bottom of the table but somehow I haven't been this hopeful in years. Check out this logjam at the bottom of the table for the last 3 playoff spots:

Hartford has momentum and at least one game in hand.

Hartford Athletic have looked incredible lately.

Alot of fun to watch. Can't wait to see what is next for Ngalina, Dieng in their careers.

Big 2 week stretch coming up. Saturday home against the Western Conference leader. Next Wednesday away starts the knockout stages of the Cup. And the week from Saturday, a visit from the hated Choad Island.
