The adventure continues tomorrow night. This season is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get each game.

Off Topic post: I watched some of the NCAA Volleyball Final Four games where Paul Sunderland did the play by play and I was impressed with his knowledge of the game and the players. I knew he did SEC WBB play by play and I enjoyed him last season but like I said before, his volleyball work impressed me.

Ha yes, in fact he was on the 1984 Olympic volleyball team that won a gold medal, and for many years he and Chris Marlowe were mainstays of Olympic volleyball broadcasting. Nowadays it seems to be Sunderland and Karch Kiraly that are the designated A team for ESPN.

His name came up in our discussion of the Rutgers-LSU game back in November: Rutgers at LSU 11/24

I happen to think he's quite good. There are some volleyball folks who find his idiosyncrasies annoying, but fans can be that way.

The rain is really nasty today. I live about an hour away from The Hump, and I am just going to have to watch this one from the recliner.

Might be the best 1st quarter of basketball we've played all year.

I know it's Florida, but this is seriously good stuff and I'm really liking what i'm seeing.

Well even for talented freshmen, the transition to college still takes some time and in our microwave society some fans think these kids are supposed to be automatic super stars.
Rarely does that happen but it is good that she is developing as the season goes along. I look for her to continue to get better and better.

Hard to believe this score as Florida was supposed to be better this year.

Thanks for the info @Plebe , I had no idea what his background is. Next to Eric Frede, he would be the play by play announcer I like hearing on a WBB broadcast.

Now back to the OP...

@Fairfield Fan I watched bits and pieces of the game, and the announcers mentioned that Vic really wants AEH to get her swagger and confidence back, because, as evidenced by her role last year, when she is performing at a high level, she is a very important piece because of how well she can stretch the floor.

He then proceeded to barely play her (about thirty seconds in the first half and ten seconds in the third quarter) until the fourth quarter which she played entirely.

She does appear to have been passed up by Xaria Wiggins on the depth chart.

I was pleased with how well Y Morris played tonight. She also played well the last game. Coach Schaefer has the posts help with pressure on the perimeter and she does a good job with her arm length. She has poked away several balls. She has also established her position down low to receive drop off passes in the lane. She is still not doing a great job on establishing herself in post defense or rebounding. She depends too much on trying to block shots.

P Taylor played better tonight. It was probably the most physical I’ve seen her on defensive rebounding. She didn’t do a good job at all establishing position in the post. She is strong enough that she should be able to easily seal off the Florida defenders.

Yes the team looked a lot better tonight. However it is still funny to be up by 30 and watch Coach Schaefer trying not to completely lose his mind when J Mingo-Young missed an open teammate on the wing.

Best we have looked all season. We looked like a team of talented players and I believe Myah Taylor was a large part of creating the chemistry. Great job, Myah!

Jordan was 10 for 11. Rickea was 9 for 11. Two of Rickea's 9 baskets were 3's. That is pretty stout from the 2 people that are going to lead this team if we go anywhere this year.

The 3 centers combined for 17 pts and 11 rebounds. I know Vic wants to rotate all 3 to keep them fresh, so last night was pretty "promising".

AEH is basically a 3 point specialist and she's shooting 32% from there this season. The other areas of her game just don't justify playing time over better all around players if she's not hitting 3's.

If she is though, she's a real problem. MSU really needs her to shoot 40%+ from 3 and get more minutes. It makes us a better team.

Vic has been hammering the guards about turnovers. Last night, the team had 24 assists and 12 turnovers. Danberry and Taylor had a combined 14 assists and 4 turnovers.
