Originally a Dire Straits song. Mark Knopfler, who wrote it, performs it here. One of the most beautiful intros I know of. Very cool, smart lyrics, too.

I like bass guitar intros, too.
Tony Levin with the low notes here - 'I Go Swimming' by Peter Gabriel.
Honorable Mention to Hysteria by Muse

I could pick most of the songs of Renaissance, with their orchestral intros.

Still one of my all-time favorites.

Man, this song should come with a trigger alert......the first few notes send me back to high school, cruising McDonalds and East Main St in Torrington with my 4 speed Fairlane. The Muntz underdash 8 track feeding the wedge speakers on the rear deck. The result was mostly distortion, but hey, I thought I was cool. (Born To Be Mild would have been more appropriate...)
This was one of two store-bought tapes I had, purchased used because I couldn't afford new. I pretty much wore it out.
