Here is where our targets will be playing this weekend for 2024. We'll also likely watch the 2025s that play for Expressions. We've put out a few more offers recently, so who we decide to watch will be telling.

You can get the livestreams and livestats here: Nike EYBL

EYBL has been way better than previous years about taking fairly accurate stats and posting them promptly. IMO Team Final vs. NH Lightning is the match to see this weekend today at 6:00pm. 3 of our targets are playing and they're two of the best teams in EYBL.

I'm an idiot and did the time zones the wrong direction. Try this:

Targets:

Nowell & Bethea - Team Final
  • Friday @ 8:00pm, court 1 – NH Lightning
  • Saturday @ 12:00pm, court 3
  • Saturday @ 6:00pm, court 2
  • Sunday @ 10:30am, court 4
Betsey - NY Rens
  • Friday @ 6:30pm, court 6
  • Saturday @ 1:30pm, court 2
  • Saturday @ 7:30pm, court 3 vs. Florida Rebels
  • Sunday @ 12:00pm, court 2
Fland - PSA
  • Friday @ 9:00pm, court 4
  • Saturday @ 12:00pm, court 7
  • Saturday @ 4:30pm, court 3
  • Sunday @ 12:00pm, court 4
Abraham - Team Takeover
  • Friday @ 8:00pm, court 6
  • Saturday @ 12:00pm, court 5
  • Saturday @ 7:30pm, court 7
  • Sunday @ 1:30pm, court 2
Jakai Howard - NH Lightning
  • Friday @ 8:00pm, court 1 vs NH Lightning
  • Saturday @ 1:30pm, court 5 vs. Mokan
  • Saturday @ 4:30pm, court 4
  • Sunday @ 10:30am, court 5
John Bol - Mokan Elite
  • Friday @ 6:30 pm, court 7
  • Saturday @ 1:30pm, court 5 vs. NH Lightning
  • Saturday @ 6:00pm, court 6
  • Sunday @ 1:30pm, court

Others that we have offered, but haven’t seem interested in yet (I think).

Allen - Florida Rebels
  • Friday @ 9:30pm, court 4
  • Saturday @ 1:30pm, court 1
  • Satuday @ 7:30pm, court 3
  • Sunday @ 1:30pm, court 3
Cofie - Seattle Rotary or whatever their new name is
  • Friday @ 9:30pm, court 2
  • Saturday @ 1:30pm, court 7
  • Saturday @ 7:30pm, court 4
  • Sunday @ 12:00pm, court 7

Edit: I don't think we're recruiting Swartz. I'm not sure we're really recruiting Cofie or fallen either (and maybe not Bol... we'll see). I'll leave them on for now.

Also: Curtis Givens plays for Mokan too. Forgot about him.

And put Allen in the serious interest camp--we watched all of his games last session.

Class of 2024 First Impressions
Haven't seen Betsey yet, but jumping in and out of games so far in the EYBL season I haven't seen a single player yet that I would rank, except for the fact you have to rank somebody. I've seen Pettiford play well previously, but so far I'd prioritize next year's portal. Even a good performance by the numbers is a bit suspect because it doesn't seem like the skills or physical size is up to the level of any other recent year. Richie Springs did well in EYBL and he would dominate vs what I have seen so far. (Keep in mind I wasn't impressed by Solo Ball the first times I saw him but now love him, so first impressions are iffy) Reputation guards are losing their dribble and throwing the ball to the other team. Does any team have a quality center or power forward?

@husky429, have you seen talent that would help a team make a deep tournament run? Bethea made some shots but seemed like a complimentary player rather than a take charge alpha dog.

I mean he put up 32 pts on 60% shooting. What more can you ask for?

Was watching multiple games, not box scores, he was the most promising when I was in the Final/NH game, and shots went in, but never saw him handle, or get his own shot. Were you as impressed as the stats?

Stats from top performers yesterday, including many guys with UConn offers or being tracked by the staff. Elliott Cadeau’s triple double stands out. I really like this kid’s game and wish he didn’t commit to UNC. I remember two years ago @superjohn mentioned that the staff should be all over Cadeau.

Pettiford doing his thing as well. Can someone explain how Pearl was able to get Tahaad and Philon at PG for 2024?!

Some stuff about Aiden Sherrell and Ahmed Nowell, who I think both got UConn offers recently, in here also.

Now let’s talk about the winners. Two weeks ago, at the Phoenix EYBL stop, we ended the weekend watching Jalil Bethea put on a crazy shooting display. The long 6-foot-4 shooting guard picked up right where he left off making six threes and scoring 32 points on just 14 shots. His jumper his feathery, he slithers by guys off the dribble and he looks to be due for a pretty big bump up from his current No. 63 overall ranking in the class of 2024. In the past few weeks Kansas, LSU, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Maryland, UConn, Virginia Tech and Xavier have joined others like Miami, Syracuse, UCLA, Villanova who had already offered for good reason.

Jakhi Howard just had an absolutely bonkers putback dunk. Hopefully someone can post a video of it.

Ended up with 24/3/1 on 7/13 from the field. 4/9 from deep. 6/7 at the line. Solid defense all game on the 7'2 center Jon Bol.

Betsey went 5/8 from deep in another game for 15 points. Struggled with fouls all game.

A lot about 2026 AJ Dybantsa in here from yesterday's session. Some stuff on Austin Swartz also (who UConn offered).

Dybantsa’s touch and shooting ability have made notable strides. He’s learning how to pick-and-pop and play off offensive actions, using his size and high release to score over top of smaller defenders in the mid-post and with his pull-up game, and getting to those spots with minimal dribbles.

It used to be that his size, frame, and touch screamed of his upside. Now…he’s just the best player on the court, asserting himself in ways that translate to higher levels, despite being a year or two younger than almost everyone else on the court.
