What exactly to Athletes Unlimited do?
They're a league in the US in the winter time where the captains kind of choose their team each time, so the players could switch teams, and each player gets "points" based on their game stats.

In softball, the season is 5 weeks long. 4 teams are changed weekly, with players earning points each game. Each week captains are selected based on their points and then select their players. All games are played at the same facility.
Short and sweet explanation.

Not sure if this is the same format for basketball

They have a nice group of list sports including basketball, softball (two leagues), volleyball, and lacrosse. Another opportunity for athletes to play after college with the limited women's professional sports scene in the US.

Are all these women no longer playing in the WNBA? Seems like a lot a talent, surprised Haley Jones not in "the League".
Quite a few of them were on rosters last year, and many in previous years. Some are trying to get back in the league and some current players want to make a few bucks and/or work on their skills if they were not used much. I think it is also a poor women's version of making a little money in the states vs. the better financial off-season opportunities and longer time period of the foreign leagues.

The name that popped out to me as being surprising was Angel McCoughtry. She is pretty old but had a nice season in Vegas before an injury knocked her out of the next one. She will have to show she still has it, but potentially could be a nice addition if at a reasonable price for a contender.

A lot of players still play overseas on the WNBA offseason. This is an alternative that is shorter and at home in the US. It doesn't pay as much, but is still a good little gig for the off season. A lot of players who are hoping to get in the W also play in this league I believe.
