The shooting percentage versus volume talking point is tired. Especially when her season stats prove it to be incorrect.

Not a Clark stan, as they say. Have a hard time with narratives that are nowhere close to being accurate. These types of posts don't help things regardless who the player is.
I should've said, I wasnt commenting on Caitlin -- I like her. Was just a funny post, brining in Maya and the real housewives.

Ok, for my two cents on Hailey Van Lith for @LwrcasefaN and @Geew1992, her shooting stats have been trending down since her freshman year at Louisville. Simply stated, she is not a good percentage shooter anywhere on the floor except at the free throw line. She went to LSU to try to become a "point Guard" and that didn't really work out so well.

The simple fact is Hailey Van Lith is not good enough for the WNBA due to size, position limitation (shooting guard vs. point guard) and defensive issues. She will never be good enough for the WNBA. The reality is with only 144 spots, to make the WNBA is incredibly hard. Hailey Van Lith is a good ball player, just not truly elite to play in the WNBA. She could and will find spots in Europe but is she better served by using her COVID year somewhere else to get a Masters degree that could really help her in life. Below is her year by year performance which shows a trend of getting worse, not better.

I could see a Draymond or a Dennis Rodman type. I've mentioned Glory Johnson as an example in the WNBA of a high motor, very athletic but kind of a frenzied player that isn't very smooth offensively. Her shot is likely her worst attribute, but she's quite good in all other areas. Incredible rebounder, great defender, passes well and is unselfish. Her handle is good for her size but she's a high dribbler and really shouldn't be handling the ball much at the next level. If she goes pro this year I think people are foolish to let her drop past 6-7. If she sticks around another year I think she's a lottery pick in 2025 along with Morrow, Bueckers and Iriafen.
Draymond can at least shoot a little bit from the 3 and he also averages a pretty good number of assists. Angel has zero jump shot (like you said her worst ability) and zero ability to shoot from the three. I think if she develops a little midrange jump shot she’d really up her value. I really like her game otherwise, she’s super strong and lengthy.

All true. But, at the end of the day it's about can you put the ball in the basket...and she can. Defense aint bad either.

Possibly. Back in the day, most teams did. Then, it became a political statement to line up for the anthem. Arizona teams (and back when we were following Rutgers) the team started lining up because the fans wanted it. But we had a couple visiting teams that left the court for the national anthem this year. We actually had one that left the court to huddle up during player introductions.

Unless teams are doing it to make a statement, I'm perfectly ok with them leaving. However, if a team is representing the USA, that's a whole different situation.
Wow. Now that you say it, I remember every team leaving the court before the anthem.

Jump shots can be developed which we often see in the pros. Draymond is a 12 year NBA vet, Angel is still in college and will continue to improve in this area.

Hmm. Interesting. I always got the impression she was a better shooter than what the stats show. I guess it was because of the supporting cast she had at Louisville.

I agree but Draymond could shoot the 3 his last two years in college to be fair

I remember when Gary Payton was #2 in the draft and many said he wouldn't last in the NBA because he was a poor outside shooter (relative to some of the other guards in the draft). What wasn't accounted for by these pundits is that Gary Payton was a "scorer". He could take anyone to the rim and get off a shot. Gary developed a great mid-range game, and vastly improved his outside shot. But Gary also lasted in the NBA for a number of years because he also was a great assist man, and outstanding defensive player. I think Angel Reese will be drafted very high as her other contributions are so valuable.
