Had a chance to listen to CD's post-game show after last night's win:

  • Second half was much better than first half;
  • More aggressive, more energetic, much better defensively in 2nd half;
  • Played passing lanes well;
  • KML looked more confident and comfortable in 2nd half;
  • Dolson, Stewart and Stokes have combined for about 150 blocks which are 150 shots that don't get to the rim; Moriah's 50 steals means opponents have 50 fewer opportunities to get to score;
  • Thoughts on Memphis: play a lot of 2-man ball screen game; play hard; a lot of teams trying to go off ball screens and make defense make mistakes; we need to get better at defending the ball screens

Note: I agree with Chris. I too have noticed many teams runing a two-man offense with ball screens, much more than in years past. Baylor does it a ton (because of Sims, of course), Tenn w/ Massengale, Louisville with Schimmel.

Love the way Moriah especially but Bria as well has been jumping the ball screens. They also rely a lot on 1. the screener's defender coming up can cutting off the other direction for the ball handler, and 2. the help side being prepared to deal with the screener rolling to the basket.

It ems the last few games, they started of slow then Boom......Off to the races.....Its very hard to be at peak levels for team you know you are going to beat by large margins. RU games was the exception........
