and heading back with Calimari. Wow they're back together. Always liked Bruiser seems like a good guy. Guessing there was a nice raise for him, good for him.

Bruiser is a good guy and I'm kind of surprised he'd leave IU and go back to Calipari unless it's for a big raise in salary or maybe believes being at Kentucky will lead to another head coaching job.
We used to invite the UMass coach to speak at our Rotary Club every year and we had a lot of fun regarding me being a UConn grad and him being the Head Coach at UMass. Lots of give and take.
He was always happy, upbeat, looking at the bright side, a genuinely nice guy and such a difference from the slippery personna of you know who.

The only time UConn vs UMass was a rivalry was during Calipari's time there and they didn't play each other, so there really is no rivalry.

Back in the old days of the Yankee Conf, there was a definite rivalry and I remember those games in the field house.

There was a rivalry back in the early 1970s. Both teams were pretty good and in the same conference. But that faded long, long ago.

We played them his first two years and won by 29 at home and 19 on the road and then Calhoun said there was no longer any reason to play them. Calipari then forever said "I understand why they don't want to play us", implying Calhoun was afraid to play UMass.
