I feel bad for the pitching staff..Losing Blood was HUGE....

Ward is really the only pitcher that is not meeting or exceeding expectations for me and he is dealing with shoulder issues. He got off to a good start before having this 'tired shoulder.' Other than that, the young guys (Marzi, Dettman, Tabakman) have all pitched well. Fischer has pitched well. Butler had a 5+ ERA the previous 2 years so his mid 4 ERA to this point hasn't been too surprising.

Having said that, I believe losing Blood has hurt but isn't something that has affected the team this year. Unless he was also the fielding coach.

There's the error and an unearned run. Losing 7-5. I don't care what happens the rest of the season, if they lose this game the only way they earn a berth is to win the Big East Championship. They cannot lose a game to a 5-23 team. That would be brutal. They better start playing.

Yeah this game is a must win. No excuses for losing to a team like Brown. If they lose this game then they pretty much have to run the table OOC and finish something ridiculous like 22-5 in conference. Hopefully the offense will get something going and this will be moot.

Ferriter ties it up with a bases loaded single. We're scoring plenty of runs (7 in 5.1 innings so far). Butler just had nothing today. I would be more worried about this if it was tied at 0. Sure Butler should be able to shut down a team like Brown but I would rather have 1 guy having a bad day than the entire lineup causing this. Hopefully the rest of the staff can fair better the rest in the next 4 innings.

At this point I would not hesitate to throw oberg for 3 if we have to. Screw this weekend if we can't win today as a loss today would make our resume bad enough that the BET is the only asnwer...

The radio guys for UConn today are worse than normal. Hard to tell what's happening half the time.

Bullpen pitching fairly well so far, allowing no runs since the inherited runners in the 5th.

Brown is throwing a new pitcher out their virtually every inning. Most of them haven't really been exceptional but it does make it harder for a lineup when they can't adjust to a pitcher over multiple at bats.

Now that they didn't score, I think Feehan pitches the 9th and then (assuming no runs here for Brown) Oberg goes up to 3 innings if that's what it takes. Can't lose this game.

Even if a guy doesn't have speed it seems it is automatic that Penders will try to have a guy steal second with 2 outs. At this point the opposition has to know it is coming and as a result the majority of the time we are getting caught. I can see it if a guy has speed but to do it just for the sake of doing it doesn't seem to make sense. Throwing outs away?

The ball was in the dirt and he tried to take 2nd as a result. Judging by the radio announcers it was a horrible decision by the runner. It has nothing to do with Penders.
