Pretty good! But unfortunately there was no market for it, leading to its failure to make up costs at the box office. This seems to happen a lot with followups to cult classics. The fans of a cult classic are enthusiastic, but not too numerous.
A lot of the block buster audience is 6-14 years old. Women Woman and Despicable Me get multiple views by the kids and the tweens. Blade Runner draws from a much smaller pool.It seems like there isn’t much of a market for big budget blockbusters inside the US. Unless you have a big brand name like Star Wars or Marvel.
I saw the original and it was boring and slow with just a few redeeming scenes.
What other comparisons can you make to Blade Runner 2049?
I enjoyed Equilibrium, Logans Run, Demon Seed, Mad Max (not so much 1 and 2 but especially 3 and 4), Ex Machina, Akira, Running Man, The Adjustment Bureau, clockwork orange, V For Vendetta and Minority Report and those types, as far as dystopias. So would BR2049 be worth seeing in that case? Or is it more of the same as BR the original or like soylent green (another super boring one).
