Kalib Boone doing what he did against us to Kalkbrenner.

Creighton 5/23 from 3.

UNLV getting high percentage inside shots that then create wide open 3’s. Someone needs to tell the analytics “experts” that parking 5 players on the 3 point line does not lead to better offense.

This game is over.

Good old Kalk must be getting flashbacks to Gampel last year when Sanogo dusted his butt

Creighton keeps driving weakly with no control and turning the ball over. UNLV capitalizing in full and semi transition.

Creighton's lack of athleticism and strength is really apparent. If they're not making 3s or getting PnR Kalk dunks, they don't really have a Plan C.

Kalib Boone with the dream shake lmao. He's out of his mind right now and his teammates are making 3s.

Creighton does not look great tonight.

Anything less than a top 2 finish in the Big East will be very disappointing for the huskies.

Yup and they are taking it right at Kalk with no fear

My 12-year old daughter on listening to Pete Gillen’s color commentary- “This guy’s voice is terrible and he kind of seems like an idiot”. Ouch

Creighton loses.

73-36 (24-22).

Easily the worst the Big East has been in a decade.

Thoughts about the game just spitballing from the top of my head:

This one hurt the Big East for sure. Creighton who many project to be a top 3 team in the Big East and a top 10-15 nationally has lost 2 games to the Mountain West Conference. It makes the MWC look better and it makes the Big East look bad. Especially considering UNLV was 3-4 entering the game.

This wasn't a game where the underdog had a lot of lucky or fluke plays or bounces of the ball and/or officiating that resulted in and made the difference in a close 1-2 possession win. UNLV lead the entire game and lead almost the entire second half by 7-8 pts or more. And when the lead was 10 points with about 10 minutes to go Creighton was playing with more energy and urgency but UNLV's lead just got bigger and it looked like it demoralized the Creighton players-their body language wasn't good (hanging heads, Kalk rolling is eyes and looking up at the ceiling).

Kalk had a good game on offense but he got Sanogoed by Kaleb Boone in the post on defense. In fact, Creighton, who had a great defense, at least last year they did, was getting torched. UNLV shot 52% for the game.

Auror said it in a post up top and I noticed the same thing-Creighton lacks athleticism. UNLV's defense inside the arc made the Blue Jays uncomfortable and rattled. Another thing I will add is Alexander seems like the head of the snake. In Creighton's 2 losses he has shot a combined 3-28 (1-16 vs CSU and 2-12 vs UNLV).

Creighton may just be overrated, and they get exposed. Hurts our SOS and potentially our seeding, but it is what it is. If we've learned anything it's: what we do in our games is what counts.

yeah, UConn can only control what their games and nothing else. Here's hoping they win convincingly in Seattle versus Gonzaga Friday night for themselves and Jaylin Stewart.

I can't believe so many people are bent on hanging their hat on a MVC program from Nebraska which has been in the Big East for what 11 years. It's Creighton.

They are missing Kaluma defensively/athletically and Ainsworth was not a step up at PG so far. He looks more along the lines of Joey C than Cam so far.

Ashworth went from 25.9% assist rate, 13.7% turnover rate last year to 18.2% assist rate, 21.8% turnover rate this year. His FT rate was cut in third. 16% usage down from 22%. He's still shooting like a sniper, but between Alexander and Scheierman, it seem like he hasn't found his footing in his role being the 3rd on ball option. And we're not even in conference play when you'd expect the step up in competition to affect him.

It’s a transition from a lower level of play to a higher one. He’s not Timberlake bad but he looks underwhelming.

Spot on, they are just over rates. Ashworth is a huge disappointment. Obviously his stats don’t translate to higher level play. If alexander is off they lack enough scoring. Unlv added boone for this game so they are much better than 3-4 squad. Good news is if UConn can shut down alexander they win. Perfect spot for castle and his length

This is why these numbers, polls, and early results in December have little meaning when it comes to rankings and seedings in late Feb. But we’re still obsessed with it. Creighton can very well live up to their current number or they won’t and as bullet proof and unlikely as it looks right now it can be similar for UCONN. I wouldn’t shovel dirt on Creighton.
