Alright, on a quest to find the best sandwich or Deli in Hartford county or the rest of the state.

My go to used to be a small deli in Stamford called Fusaros or, of course, Gaetano’s, but looking for something around Hartford now.

What do y’all got?

Not Connecticut, but the best sandwich I have ever had was a Puerto Rican Tripleta at a place called Saizon Criollo in Buffalo. The lady slow roasted the pork, the tastiest I've ever had, great sauce. Incredible. I don't know how she prepared it, but it took her 45 minutes to even serve the sandwich, like she was roasting it while you waited. There were only 4 tables in the joint, and she didn't do togo orders. The place went out of business in under a year.

Franklin Giant in Hartford. But I moved 7 years ago and not so sure today.
Nope. That whole area has hit the skids. Don't bother going if you come back to CT.

Really? Is it dramatically worse or just a little sketch?
The ladder. 7 years ago was 2016. The area changed noticeably since then. Not a loud part of town, I'm there every week. If you're comparing it to like the 80s-90s yeah it's "hit the skids" but if you were walking around here in 2016 it's fine.

and yes it's still around and pretty good but i wouldn't even say best in its part of Hartford

It wasn’t that good in the 90’s. All the Italian people left by the mid 80’s. The scarier elements of the city were creeping in since the late 70’s as I understand it. I never thought it was very safe in my time going from the late 80’s to 2010 or so. The Italian restaurants and a baker or two remained, but the Italian folks actually living there were long gone.

From my understanding those Italian families all accumulated welath and moved to Glastonbury, WeHa, Wethersfield, and Rocky Hill. Or further. Anyways, my point was you won't have trouble walking there in the daytime

Not sure but I went to Nardilos in Newtown area before uconn game and got a buffalo chicken sandwich. The chicken cutlet they used was pretty bad. Feel like I've been underwhelmed a number of times by them

If you’re looking for italian grinder, Angelo’s on West Main in New Britain is probably the best in the state. I always do prosciutto di parma, mortadella and hot soopressata on a portigeuse roll with provolone , oil, and all the veggies.

2020 might as well be 10 years ago with coronavirus. It put a lot of great places out of business.
