Both AP and USA Today/Coaches UConn is closer to #1 than #4 Bama is to UConn. And it's not close.

Said another way, Purdue, Virginia and UConn are breaking away from the pack.
Conference play starts for everyone after next week and I think top 25 will look very different in January

Doesn't make the poll any better. After this point, the poll stagnates and/or gets less accurate at predicting national champions. The NCAA tournament isn't like conference season (well scouted opponents with coaching history on home/away courts), it's more like feast week (quick succession games on neutral courts) and random one off non-conf games.

Been telling everyone all week we would fall at #3. The bias to the power football conferences is real.

#2 is more realistic given Virginia has only beaten Baylor, Illinois, and Michigan while squeeking past James Madison. Purdue crushed Gonzaga and Duke and are in the Big Ten so we weren't going to pass them.

If Houston goes on a revenge tour and takes down Virginia and we handle our business, we will be #2 for Christmas. No way Purdue is losing with their cupcake schedule for the rest of 2022.
If the bias is towards power football conferences, how do you explain UVA?
