13 or 12 is where I thought we would be. UCONN should easily be a 3 seed pushing 2 seed at this point. Wasn't sure we'd jump Va Tech who didn't lose either, but I guess our romp over #18 Marquette opened some eyes.

In our sights, K-State, Texas, and USC. Without Harmon, Texas is not the same team. USC plays almost exclusively 1 on 1 ball so slow Watkins (easier said than done) and USC will struggle. We are trending in the right direction...

LOVE that Vandy is also receiving votes. While their rival, Tennessee, is nowhere to be seen.

Up 3 is one more than I expected. 12 is probably not where UConn will stay. I suspect we'll end up somewhere in the top 10 by the end.

On a side note, the USCw ranking at #9 sounds just about right for where they seem to be now. I re-watched their game against UCLA and thought better of them than I had previously. They played a scrappy feisty game against a tough opponent. I didn't think they had it in them.

In many Top 25 threads, I have stated that it was my opinion that many voters don't appear to actually have knowledge of the games teams (UConn) played that week.
Today I changed my opinion, at least for this week. :):rolleyes:

Unfortunately this is a tad misleading since it's counting the opponent's AP ranking at the time of the game. Two of those four wins for UConn were over teams no longer ranked (Maryland and North Carolina). (Of course, the same can be said of South Carolina, which also has wins over MD and UNC.)

Per the current NET, we have 5 wins over the top 50 but none over the top 25: Louisville (26), Marquette (34), Minnesota (36), Maryland (38), UNC (46). Kansas is just outside the top 50 at #55.

Speaking of Shea, (Vandy) I am so happy (and unsurprised) to see her success in turning that program back into a winner. I realize they haven’t won anything yet, except more games:) but it’s very clear that she has those kids playing Shea ball. Very gratifying to all UConn fans who have proclaimed her to be Geno’s heir apparent. Of course, it’s also somewhat alarming as now we have to worry that she might not come back to UConn when Geno does retire! Anyway, so happy for Shea and here’s hoping she doesn't forget us.

A more enjoyable ranking is the NCAA NET where UConn is ranked 10 (moving up from 11), Shea Ralph's Vandy team is ranked 58 and our orange tinted friends are ranked 74. :D
And Carla’s Princeton is #51

UConn to me is solid top 10 team and if they match up they will beat any team they play. Their Achilles is the lack of depth in the post and lack of size in general. They will really struggle matching up to a few teams so they will need help just as LSU did last year but they do have a path.

I used to say you can prepare to win a game or you can prepare to win a tournament. The fine line is you have to win games to get to the tournament and I think right now UConn has done that. The real question won't be answered until they play ND who is a marginal team with some size and South Carolina who is a very good team with a lot of length. I would be shocked if they lose a conference game though since they know they have to play with urgency.
