First quarter just ended. He played about three minutes and had a tip in and finished an alley-oop. Not a whole lot happened when he was on defense.

For only playing nine minutes in the first half he played a lot better than he ever did at uconn.

Really efficient for 9 mins
Sounds about right. For me the most frustrating thig about AD was not being able to watch him develop like THabeet or Okafor. I would have loved to see him here for two or three years and develop a post game. I'm afraid he may never develop

Drummond just put Detroit up 1 with 35 seconds left on a tip in. Good job by staff making sure he gets his points right at the bucket instead of taking jumpers.

If Garnett and Bynum can develop why not Andre. Getting full time basketball coaching, his own personal big man coach, seems like a recipe for success for right minded kid.

He looked a little winded at times and he was a bit disengaged occasionally, but overall it was a very good debut for him, I thought.

I watched the highlights on NBA.com and he had a highlight reel block, and on the replay, you could see Charlie Villanueva.

He's going to be a very good NBA player and I think it will happen faster than most people expect.

Right, because Garnett and Bynum stories are the norm. Fact is, tons of kids have potential, but only a few have the drive, only a few fall into the perfect learning situation. In all honestly I don't think you can say college or the NBA is a better learning experience. I guess I'm selfish because I'd rather see him develop here , contribute and win than sit on a bench develop and succeed a few years down the line in the NBA

Garnett was extremely polished when he entered the NBA - never shot lower than 47% over a full season or under 70% from the FT line. Amare might be a better example(and not just because they look related).

For all the crap Drummond got during his time at UConn, he still managed to be the most consistent player on an NCAA tournament team.

Because he's a freak of nature and he will be working on his game 24/7 with specialists. Right now he is already a pretty good defender and very good shotblocker, he is going to get buckets just out of sheer size and athleticism. The coaches love his approach and have already seen major improvements.

What makes you think that? He has NO post game

You don't need to have a post game to be a very good NBA player. And in reference to your other post, how was he the most consistent player on last year's team?

Same could be said for Stromile Swift

Who else was more consistent? Maybe Lamb, but he was also a liability on defense at times.

Drummond was far from great, but he was the team's best rebounder (not saying much) and a force defensively. It was night and day when he left the court in place of Orikahi or Olander.

Ummm, Stromile Swift weighs 210 lbs. Drummond weighs 280 lbs. and is 19 years old, bad example.

They need to show him the Bill Russell reels. He needs to block shots to teammates, not the floor or the seats.

Drummond's alley-oop made #6 on SportsCenter's top plays tonight and the block made #4.
