Yes, the Big East sponsors baseball. If we can get them to stop doing so, we can play in the AAC.
But Notre Dame is able to split football out from its other sports and the ACC has football... it’s doable.

there will be more 'down' years than 'up' years for the AAC.
You might wish that to be the case but schools like Houston, Cinci, Memphis, and UCF will continue to thrive. They have exceeded expectations so far and there is no reason to believe that ends. They have good coaches and talented players. That will carry the conference.

How much money do you think UConn was making on the t-3 deal with SNY?

No p-5 is going to be adding AAC schools. For a school like OU who is making 15 million less than Nebraska on TV adding Houston or Cinic makes the gap even wider, which is why that will never happen now. There simply are no spots in the p-5 for any AAC schools at this point, not Houston, Cinci, or UCF. I think UConn came to the same conclusion, and realized that even if it did happen they were not at the front of the line anyway.

I actually think UConn made a smart move here more of less abandoning FBS football. Most of the g-5 are wasting so much money on FB that it makes no sense. Hopefully this will save UConn a bundle and reduce the 40 million $ subsidy to a manageable number that is sustainable long term. Most schools are not sustainable at the current levels of spending for athletics.
Of the $40 million deficit only about $8.7 million came from football. $22 million of deficit was Olympic sports. Of course due to Title IX football scholarships had to be offset elsewhere. Bottomline though we did not invest our money wisely.

Eeeeerrrr...no. If we finish last in the Big East, the stands are still full because we are playing Nova, Georgetown, Providence, and a Big 12 or Big 10 school every year.
Stands weren't always full with the old (real) Big East

There's a difference between being independent in football and playing baseball in a separate conference lol

Oh, okay. So the schools that are division 2 or 3 except for 1 sport, that’s different too?

I'll miss baseball. It's the only sport besides Women's basketball that was any good and got national attention.

Watched or listened to every game. Can't imagine a big series against Villanova.

Hope Penders quits.

Look people can try to spin the football nonsense every which way they want to, but the bottom line is this isn't a growing conference. It's an island of misfit toys made up of schools who share only two things in common: 1.) They like sports; 2.) They want to get out of this dung hole of a conference as soon as possible.

So long as #2 stays, that's how it's going to be forever. There was no future for UConn athletics in this conference.
