Maybe a KVL step out game on a national stage?

Regardless of whether Elissa Cunane plays the entire game or just a few minutes, NC State has the potential to win this game.

However, of late, Louisville just has NC State's number; the Cardinals have won 6 straight against the Wolfpack Women. With lots of questions remaining about how strong several of the NC State starters will be as they get back to full-strength after their COVID protocols...and as much as it pains me to make this pick, I am going with Louisville to win....but am hopeful, and would not be surprised, if NC State somehow wins a thriller.

I think I will have to go with Louisville in this one. It is definitely a must watch game though.

I won't be the least bit surprised if NC State wins. I expect a close, well-played (hopefully) game.

Under normal circumstances I would be there with 15,000+ of my red-clad friends. Sigh.....

Louisville has the superior backcourt and it’s not close.

NC State has the superior frontcourt and it’s not close.

Both of these statements are going to be independently true in almost every game each team plays this season.

I think Louisville’s X-factor is Balogun and State’s is probably Cunane (seems obvious, but it’s her first game back).

The biggest concern for Louisville is probably defending the formidable post trio of Cunane/Boyd/Jones. Biggest for NC State is probably containing the Ville’s array of guards and wings, nearly all of whom are adept at penetrating, scoring off the dribble drive, and canning threes.

Wind blows with the guards more often than not (just ask Arkansas!) this time of year. I will lean Louisville, but big games from Jones and Brown-Turner could pretty quickly swing this back in the Wolfpack’s favor.

This is a hard one because of limited fans at games. Yum Center would be packed if this was a normal year. So with that element off the table it carves a little bit off the deficit I believe NC State walks onto floor carrying. I think Louisville wins this easily.

I hate to say this to the Louisville fans but Maryland has defeated them at the Yum Center twice since 2013.

Elissa Cunane to get the start tonight. I find that surprising.

The camera is very high up is it not?
Yes, it is. I don't know why they can't zoom in a little. The players sometimes look like ants.

Quite a few missed shots for a while but both teams getting some rhythm now. 18-15 UL just before end of Q1.

edit--tied at 18 to end the quarter, Perez 3 from the corner

18-18 game, end of 1.

Dana Evans with two THREEs. NC State just 2 of 8 from long range.

Only 3 fouls and zero FTs so far. Makes a game go quickly.

Perez hit that buzzer beater at the same spot Ogunbowale hit that 3 pointer against Mississippi State :(
