2024 NBA DRAFT

Ringer (updated 4/9)
The Ringer's 2024 NBA Draft Guide
Castle 1
Clingan 3
Spencer 41
Karaban 53

Tankathon (updated 4/2)
Clingan 6
Castle 7
Karaban 53
Newton 59
Spencer 62

Vecenie Said on his latest podcast that he has both Clingan and Castle in the top 5. He will have all 3 others in there as well when it comes out.

These 3 along with Givony actually move the needle in the draft world to differing degrees.

Castle deserves to go #1. The knock on him is shooting and that's the easiest thing to improve. He has literally everything else.

The euros haven't wow'ed anyone lately. The only American I've seen above Castle lately is Cody Williams.
Cody is a better shooter right now but is weak and couldn’t really shake his defenders well from what I saw. He was also touted as a big time defensive prospect but Steph is significantly better on that end.

Kevin Pelton's model is out for ESPN+. Donovan Clingan #1. (Stats-only #3, Givony #3, model makes him #1 when ranked with everyone else). Castle #10, Karaban #25.

Past #1s
2023 - Wemby
2022 - Chet
2021 - Sengun
2020 - LaMelo
2019 - Zion
2018 - Luka
2017 - Lonzo
2016 - Simmons
2015 - KAT

I like Steph in San Antonio. Great for exposure and I just don't see his shooting being a problem in 1-2 years, so that should work realy nicely with Wemby.

I use this site for the same thing:

For some reason No Ceilings doesn't include Vecenie at the Athletic on there. Maybe he didn't update soon enough (but I think he said he was doing one soon).

Probably depends on workouts but I don’t see Dillingham and certainly don’t see Sheppard going over Steph. May be biased but…

Risacher has been playing awful the last couple months, not sure what the scouts see in him.

Castle and Clingan definitely going in the top 10 picks, maybe higher.

Newton and Cam probably going second round, or at least getting a two-way deal.

Karaban could possibly slip into the second round, could possibly get a two-way contract, or could possibly get neither. Will he increase his draft position by returning? Probably a little bit. As previously mentioned, he's the only question mark.
How can you be higher than “top 10 picks”?

Has Karaban going early 30’s. If that’s the case he isn’t coming back
Big Board, not mock, if that's any consolation. Vecenie would take him in the 30s, not necessarily what teams will do. His last mock from February had him early 40s.

what's the difference between a big board and a mock draft? Doesn't take fit into account?

Other people mentioned fit, but also mock is more based on league consensus and intel for where a player's range is, while big board is more of a personal assessment (while obviously recognizing that any of our opinions are shaped by those we talk to, so there is some league consensus baked in).

I sure hope someone here (maybe mini-maddog) will keep all these mock draft predictions and rank them after the draft so we can mock all these "experts".
