Kudos to Nancy Stevens for quality succession planning!Happy for the new coach. Can’t be easy following stevens. Seems kids really like playing for him.
Was that Stevens in the video?
That’s weird, unless Stevens did it to facilitate the transition. Then it is pretty cool.Nancy Stevens is still on the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. I recall that was announced Paul Caddy was elevated to the head coach of the field hockey team.
Will the game be on tv and where can we find it?
Not sure I would bring that argument into this loss. We have done quite well in FH outside the P5.Hard to compete against a P5 school that get tons of money from ESPN and the Ct taxpayers.
Exactly my point. Can compete against midmajors, but is difficult to compete against P5 schools as they have extra funding. You will see more and more of this from UConn now. Teams will get into post season tourneys, but not last long. Not sure I would bring that argument into this loss. We have done quite well in FH outside the P5.
UConn Field Hockey has made the Final 4 in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.Exactly my point. My fear is that as time goes on and UConn gets further distanced financially from P5 schools, it will become more and more difficult to be competitive. Take note that the overwhelming majority of teams that seem to advance to or past the quarterfinals are P5 schools. (I don't consider Ivy league schools midmajor because they have more money than most P5's)UConn Field Hockey has made the Final 4 in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Winning the National championship in 2013 (Duke), 2014 (Syracuse), and 2017 (Maryland). In 2018 lost in QF in OT to National runner-up Maryland and in 2019 lost to National runner-up Princeton in QF.
UConn Field Hockey is competing just fine.
(BTW, this year two top returning players opted out due to Covid travel issues @ beginning of season).
Please explain what P5 money has to do with competing in field hockey. I don’t see it as an issue at all in field hockey. My fear is that as time goes on and UConn gets further distanced financially from P5 schools, it will become more and more difficult to be competitive.
