My post wasn't responding to you, so I'm not sure why you responded that way lol. If the NCAA wants to require that players sign contracts they can go ahead and try but I am guessing that wouldn't be possible without declaring the students as employees. And that model just doesn't seem feasible...
Yeah, the people who profit off of the players' labor should be the ones deciding their future for them. I'm sorry, this is an insane take and I don't see any point in continuing this conversation with you if this is what you believe.
I don't believe you or I or anyone else except for that kid deserves to make that decision for him or her. I am certain that some of the hundreds of kids that end up transferring will end up making a bad decision, but isn't it good that they have the choice?
I support reasonable restrictions that have a legitimate purpose. I think a lot of the anger from people and calls for restrictions don't have good enough reasons to consider putting them in place.
My question is, why do you feel the need to restrict their ability to transfer to a better situation, other than a feeling of nostalgia about seeing a kid come in and develop for 4 years? Maybe the kid was wooed by a coach but now realizes he isn't a good fit. Maybe he was recruited over and...
If that's what you're into, I get that it can be disappointing. That being said, it's not fair to wish it would go back to how it was just for your own enjoyment.
It's still a great product. And there are plenty of teams that don't bring in a bunch of kids every year and develop great players...
I understand the theory, but I don't necessarily buy it. Sure, it's easier for a really good player at a mid-major to transfer, but it's not like those players didn't transfer before. And there are also talented players that are getting recruited over at bigger schools that trickle down to those...
In what way is the product watered down? I get why it's more frustrating for coaches, and fans of mid-majors when their favorite players move on, but the product on the court has been fantastic.
This is the issue. Any suggested change just forces kids back into bad situations. Your suggestion would have that "diamond in the rough" not make any money and be forced to stay at his school or sit out a full season.
You don't have to like the portal, and there are certain parts about it that...
The fact that you feel compelled to cover your face implies that Hurley knows you, which also implies that you're on some kind of UConn watch list. That's a level of commitment a lot of people here could learn from.
Yeah I fell for one of those sites thinking it was a legit, US based company that the players would profit from. I realized after it took 3 weeks to ship and the tracking info originated from China.
Can we not do this? Some people on this board act like UConn is the only place that any rational kid would choose to go and if not they're a terrible person. It's so bizarre and off-putting.
Using the SNY/TBS apps will require a tv provider login, and if you aren't paying for a service that gets those channels you won't be able to watch them through the app.
I switched to Hulu for SNY, and it also gets TBS/TNT.
They can, but there are only so many spots in the rotation. I'm guessing we only bring in one guard/wing that gets significant minutes, otherwise one of Stewie/Solo will get squeezed out of minutes. If Karaban leaves then maybe it'll be fine, although by the time he decides I doubt McNeeley and...
I feel the same about running. I walk on the treadmill from time to time but I hate it. I've also run in a few 5Ks and about 3 minutes in I wonder what the hell I was thinking signing up.
