First Round Game against Siena on Sunday @ home
http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/soccer-women/d1

Same bracket as Rutgers (#2) and ND (#3)

I hope UConn can advance through their first 2 games and meet Rutgers as 1) they had an off game last time and it is winnable and 2) maybe I can make it if it is on a weekend. Of course, the Huskies will likely face ND in South Bend in the 2nd round. The Irish were UConn's nemesis in the old Big East going back to the mid 1990's.

I think they would play ND at Rutgers.

Yes, UConn plays Notre Dame at Rutgers. The top two seeds in each regional (assuming they win their first round game) host the second and third rounds on November 20-22.

The AAC went 0-3 today with USF, UCF, and Cincinnati all losing. Cincinnati, who UConn choked away a 2 goal late lead to, was annihilated by Virginia Tech. The top ACC teams in women's soccer are basically UConn in women's basketball. On another level.

@UConnWSOC: Final: #UConn 5, Siena 0. Huskies advance to play Notre Dame in Piscatway, NJ next Friday in the NCAA 2nd Round. #FTTF

So UConn has Notre Dame on Friday, and if they win, a potential rematch with Rutgers. That will certainly be an uptick in the quality of opponents that they may face from what they have seen for most of the season. It will be interesting to see how they do.

Wait... Rutgers is good at a sport? Give Hermann an extension! Smart idea... sucking at football and basketball and funneling all your B1G largess into Women's soccer!

Well, they do not have to go far for talent. Currently there are 4 NJ high school teams in the Top 20 national rankings - 1) Northern Highlands, 9) Ridge, 21) IHA, 25) Colts Neck. IHA was #1 last year and is ranked even with 4 losses this year because 2 are to Northern Highlands and another is to #10 Maria Carillo (CA).

I'm not actually too surprised. They basically under preform their recruiting territory in most sports they have. I'm surprised they haven't won more just by accident.

I know Rachel Hill scored against Siena but hoping she's 100% healthy after the injury in conference tourney. Needed.

And speaking of recruiting there's a sophomore at WesConn who I saw play in HS and just recently that could contribute at this level. Great ball control and passer and can finish if needed. Was kind of surprised she didn't end up at a D1 program even if she wasn't from a big-time HS program. Offensive player of the year in the league. But maybe happy where she's at academically and athletically.

Rachel Hill scores early in the 2nd half, giving UConn a 1-0 lead over Notre Dame. Now comes the hard part, holding it for the rest of the half over a Notre Dame team that definitely had the better of the play in the 1st half.

UConn had been lacking a big signature win this season. That is, until now.

Well color me surprised. This is the type of opponent UConn soccer usually can't win against yet they get a 2-0 win over an old rival and ACC power.

The potentially meet Rutgers on Sunday a team they lost to 2-0. That could be an advantage in a rematch.

Having Rachel Hill on the team certainly helps. The women's soccer team hasn't had a goal scoring threat like Hill for about ten years, when both Kristen Graczyk and Jessica Gjertsen played for the Huskies, which happens to coincide with the last time UConn went to the women's soccer final four back in 2003. Now I'm not suggesting this team is heading to the final four, but it does make it easier to beat a quality team such as Notre Dame when you have a big time goal scoring threat like Hill that you can rely on.

Rutgers beat Hoftstra 2-0 will play @ 1pm on Sunday.

Rachel Hill scores again! 2-0 UConn lead.

Questions answered!

1 PM, damn it, I want o go to this ; but, my son's birthday party isn't over until 1:30 and its an hour drive for me to Rutgers. I love the Huskies; but, family fist. Go Huskies, beat Rutgers!

Don't understand why there is no video stream at this point. Assuming NCAA has the rights and does nothing with it?

They did stream the FH game, so who knows?

Not looking good in New Jersey. Rutgers with their stingy defense is up 3-0 over UConn early in the second half.
