On the upcoming April BOT agenda. Much needed improvements.

That $10m is going to go over like a lead balloon in this environment

Did you mean to say encampments, enhancements, or enchantments? All would make sense depending on your meaning.

Does this mean we will get a Jumbotron above the center of the court?

Or just replace the existing ones? Those are a pain to look at.

I wonder what the naming rights would go for if they built a new arena. Could be $2 to $5 million per year. Now is the right time to test the waters as you might get a higher bid.

No idea but this is what we get when the short sighted administrators and politicians are in charge. We in this state, never dream big. Land of steady habits, risk averse. I cite the Rent as a prime example.
You have no idea how right you are and you have no idea what difficulties were faced just to build Gampel.

  • The locals tried a few times to shut down the project, from predevelopment phase until after groundbreaking.
  • We had to lie about the capacity (claimed it was going to be ~6k) to get approval.
  • We had to fight Hartford politicians and businesses who wanted to capacity limited and the marquee games played in Hartford. Thank God the Whalers were still around at the time or we may have been forced into playiing all home games in Hartford.
  • We had to epxand it (added about 1,800 seats) on the sneak.
One thing I discovered decades ago is if someone mentions something about UConn that implies great ambitions or aspirations, a lot of politicians and big-wigs get very nervous.

Good for Governor Lamont.
Gampel Pavilion opened in 1990 at a cost of $28 million or $65.3 million in today's dollars, according to wikipedia.

How the heck can we not get a brand new, much nicer facility for under $100 million?

The enhancements noted in the OP was before the potential budget number was significantly increased today. I’m sure the wish list will change.
I still can't imagine what else would possibly be worth spending that kind of money on? We're here to watch basketball, not pyrotechnics.
