Over the last 25 years, the story of the greatness UConn women's basketball has moved steadily into the consciousness of the casual sports fan. That's not hard to understand. How can you ignore a program that almost never loses and has won 10 national championships since 1995?

Well, more proof of UConn's impact comes with the release of Sports Illustrated's list of the top 100 moments in sports history, a wide-ranging look at the games, events and trends that have captivated the sports world in the modern era.

This is a nasty thing, actually. The description is linked to Stanford's home court. that's the loss, not the last win of the 90. it should be a celebration of the wins, not the first loss. The whole description sounds more like a celebration of Stanford and ND and doesn't celebrate the many years of accomplishments of Geno and UConn the way that #63 celebrates Wooden and UCLA. The clueless reader would have no idea of UConn's dominance outside of a "lucky" 90 game winning streak. If one argues that #63 is about Wooden's retirement and therefore a life's summary, then compare it to #46, which celebrates a specific UCLA win but also Wooden. There is serious asymmetry here. Good thing no one cares about Sports Illustrated anymore....

They did not include the UConn-Tennessee game in 95? A watershed moment that should not have been ignored.

A watershed moment for women's basketball, yes. In the entire world of sports, meh

I wonder where a fourth(4th) NC would stand in the Sports Illustrated Mag pecking order if UConn were to win it all this year ? Certainly it should be considered a Great Moment in History. Never before accomplished by a men's or women's class.
