K. Fedko (RF)
Crawford (1B)
C. Fedko (2B)

I was kind of figuring that Ben Maycock would get a shot today. Glad to see I'm right for a change.

UVA’s starter is a carbon copy of yesterday’s starter. Great stuff, a little wild. Be patient, work some walks, drive that pitch count up, and get into that exhausted pen.

I'd feel a lot better about our pen today with Willis and/or Moreno there. If Haus can't go, I'm not sure that we've got much more than our weekday starters and their backups in there.

On another bullpen note, I can't say I was confident even before yesterday that Dunlop -- whose biggest problem was consistency -- is going to become more consistent just by putting him in the pen. We have enough bullpen arms with Wurster, Haus, Moreno and Willis when they're all there, but seem thin with two of them out this week.

Maycock was a starter at the beginning of last season, but didn't hit. Struck out a lot. Like any other player, he needs to do something with the opportunities that he gets. Still, I admit that I like both him and Kevin Ferrer getting opportunities to show what they can do with the bat in their hands.

Chris Jones says 39 degrees at first pitch. Still, it's warmer than yesterday.

Two singles and a stolen base result in a Virginia run in the bottom of the first with no out. Austin Peterson warming up. Another single and an RBI ground out makes it 2-0 Virginia going to the top of the 2nd. Wang needs to settle in quickly in the 2nd if he is to stay in the game.

Top 2nd, Kyler Fedko leads off with a single, but nothing else for the UConn offense that inning.

Good try by Wink but his line drive cannot get through. Wang needs a shut down inning.

Bottom 2nd, Wang hits the first batter, which inspires me with all sorts of confidence after that first inning. Wang gets the next two outs with no more runs coming in, going one time through the order, and then comes out of the game for Austin Peterson.

Wang can’t live up in the zone like he did today....also when he did get ahead he still missed his spot. Even on pitchout he practically through a strike...

Defense shining so far. Now would be the time for Ben to earn playing time.

Top 3rd, Brown with a one out double, making his argument for further playing time. First extra base hit for him in a UConn uniform. UVA follows with an infield error, so runners at the corners.
