Great! I think both walk-ons are a big bonus to the team. Was glass 'Polly' got on the court again in the last game, she had a few DNPs in a row and it was a home state game for her. (wonder if family was in attendance?)

Did you know that she was trained in the Marital Arts by a man who has trained the 82ed Airborne, and numerous USA Martial Arts teams and is one of only a few 9th degree black belts in the world. I think there are 9 in the world. Yes Husky fans he is our own CFerraro. He is very humble and low key and has won a lot of tournments world wide. He just go back from the Netherlands with Team USA. TLaw was one of his students.

Remind me to be polite to him even if I disagree with one of his posts, please!

She's so awesome. I am so glad that she is on the team, and that she is an animal science major - my little sister was an animal science major at UConn...she took me on a tour of the grounds for a specific purpose which is a story for another time...and likely a smaller audience.

Go TLaw!!

I'm sure it was unintentional, but by Geno's comment at the end of this (highly and deservedly complimentary) article -- "She tries really hard to do the right thing" -- he "damned her with faint praise."

To do this is an art form for people whose opinions of others is (publicly) sought.

Another example. Somebody prominent said of another: "His modesty is certainly justified." [OUCH!]

Was Polly actually on the track team at UConn? I wonder what events she competed in?

In High School.Briana holds the school record in the high jump,100m hurdles,300m hurdles,4x400m.She also had several scholarship honors besides national honor society.
Tierney also lettered in softball and soccer in high school.

According t0 the Huskies track teams stats in 2013, Pulido is not really a weight event athlete but more of a sprinter and hurdler, with some long jumping and relays mixed in. Once you get to the D1 college level, the competition level gets pretty fierce, and generalists like Briana tend to have a tough time against the top level specialists, so she finished pretty far back at the meets. But having a variety of skills she can do pretty well on the track (like run fast, jump far, hurdle obstacles, grasp round sports objects) can translate decently to BB.

I was teasing, Dobbs. Couldn't find the appropriate icon to imply tongue in cheek. She was a hurdler.

Since this is/was a TLaw thread I'll start out by adding to the notes above that she was also captain of the Softball team in addition to being 2 year Basketball captain. Don't know about Soccer but clearly some "leadership qualities there.

As far as Briana and her Track events, she was very very versatile in High School as discussed. I guess just a flat out athlete.

TLaw is automatic!!! Teams are going to have to start game-planning for her (even though they're down 30 pts. or such).

I kinda agree, but why? This was probably said in jest. You don't scout a player that averages 40 seconds/game.
Okay, some team has had everything go right for them and 6 UConn players have fouled out of a game going into the 5th OT of an NC game and it's a tie game with 5 seconds left and the ball is passed out to TLaw in the right corner. Do you as the other team's five defenders sit back and watch her shoot or go running en mass at her screaming "Miss, miss, miss!" knowing that it's all probably futile, but what the heck?

Me, I'd even take off a shoe and hurl it at her shot.

Great story. Tierney Lawlor is certainly an impressive individual. It is no easy feat to balance the time requirements of being a member of the UConn basketball team and be a Civil Engineering major.

I ran track and majored in CE, but had to drop track after my freshman year. Many late nights studying while class mates are partying. Tough stuff!
