29 turnovers + 4 or more fouls on the starters = trouble. I didn't see the game but it looks like LSU won it at the free throw line.

They did. Hollivay only played about 4 minutes in the first half due to picking up 2 fouls. However, turnovers in key times cost us. A lot of good to take away, and to grow.

For years now Rutgers has been turning what should be easy wins into high drama. The answer is the book writing, award winning coach (with a very small c) sitting on their bench. The squandered talent is mind blowing.

Very close game against a ranked team. RU is also traditionally VERY slow out the gate and usually much better by the end of the season than most other teams. By that I mean they seem to really improve more than most teams by March. Not sure why they usually start so slowly though.

Believe it or not, Vivian is focusing more on offense this year rather than defense. The team has really improved on offense this year, but we still don't have real three point threats. The problem today was fouls and turnovers. We need to have Hollivay and Copper on the floor - not sitting on the bench in foul trouble. I think we will be a tough out in March - for any team other than UConn.

Correct. She has recently said that they haven't really worked on defense yet.

That's interesting and a break from tradition.

So what's Rutgers' record now before the game with Texas Tech? 4-2?

Sheesh.

What a difference a day makes. Rutgers beats Texas Tech by 9 but only threw the ball away 11 times, and only called for 11 fouls while shooting 41%. Freshman Tyler Scaife led the way with 18 points.

Also Rutgers forced 21 Tech turnovers and held TT to only 28% shooting.

Three of RU's sophomores (Copper, Hollivay, and Redshirt Soph Canty) have also shown great improvements over the previous season. Scaife is also the real deal, and should be the next great RU guard. There are more scoring options at RU than there have been in a while. But they still have a lot of room to improve, and they need to deal with the TO issue sooner rather than later.
