Take out UConn and UL and it's not terribly different from the old BE. Cuse, ND and Pitt also have a history of flaming out early.

True, but the other three had enough cache (real or imagined), that people usually expected them to perform well. Look at what the NBE has. It isn't going to trick people for much longer. Baylor took a blowtorch to whatever illusion they were trying to pull.

What else is new: everyone associated with the Big East, old (Cuse, Pitt) or new (Xavier, PC, Nova, Creighton) flamed out early, with the exception of us and Louisville.

Maybe the American really did get the best of the dissolution of that conference (for this year anyway).

What did they really expect? The lost all their power teams and brought in a bunch of mid-majors. It's barely a shadow of what it once was.

Can we now refer to that current conference as the "Little East," so we can always know that when someone says the "Big East" that they're referring to the glory days of a conference that no longer exists after between torn apart?

They are in such denial. They need to stop making fun of our league and focus on getting one just "ONE" team out of the round of 32. Seriously it amazes me that they don't realize just how mid major they are..

The D3 conference ECSU and WestConn play in is the Little East. They are probably really similar though.

Did you guys watch Memphis vs. Virginia?
The Virginia team you called the worst 1 seed in recent memory? Memphis will always be at a disadvantage when facing a team with a coach that well um coaches. Pastner reminds me of a lazy gym coach who empties out a bag of BALLZ and declares that today is "open gym".

Let's face it, I'd like to see our conference mates do well, but really I only care about UConn. The Big East however, fell flat on its face. Creighton had the typical Creighton NCAA run. PC made their bi-decade appearance a short one, and Jay Wright should spend more time on strategy than with his tailor.

The 1989-1990 UConn team had 3 future NBA players on it. This UVA team does not have any.

I don't know what it will take for people to see that UVA is very good.
