You get a nickname like that as a kid and then your career exceeds the moniker in every was possible.

The craziness of being the all time leading goal scorer and points leader and if you took away all his goals and just counted assists, he'd still have most points ever.

The amazing thing was he was clearly the best offensive player the game had ever seen by the time he was 20 and from ages 21-26 put up numbers that would have been two great offensive seasons each year (92 goals and 120 assists in the season that he turned 21 about 30 games in is mind boggling).
