One of our coaching tree members could be moving up the ladder soon. That program was horse doody when Pikiell took over. He'll probably have to make an intermediate jump to an A-10 before a possible big time job, but I was worried he took a deadend job at first and he's gotten it done.

Would love to see them make the tournament and pull off an upset. Since we cant play in this years tournament, it would take just a slight edge off if a former Husky could make some noise.

I'm hoping for a 16 seed CCSU to knock of GTown.

They are ambitious, but they've been handcuffed by the SUNY system. For most of his career, Pikiell has been coaching in a 1500-seat auxiliary gym while awaiting renovations to their bigger complex which were stalled. They've hosted a couple things (an NIT game with Illinois in particular) in the old complex, taking it off mothballs just to have enough seats. They might have found solutions - I'm not up to date. But he spent four or five years coaching on a volleyball court trying to make the best of it.

Pikiell should definitely be Ollie's replacement once he retires.
