I learned last night that former UConn S&C guru, Coach Jerry Martin, passed away yesterday. Thoughts and prayers to him and his loved ones. Jerry was a big part of UConn's early success, and played a pivotal role in not only the development and maturation of hundred and hundred of UConn athletes (those who went pro, and those who did not, but were better off and healthier for knowing him), but he was also the mastermind behind the design of UConn's current state of the art training facilities.
RIP coach, you will be missed.

Rest in peace Coach. The stories my friends have told me about Jerry Martin when they played at UCONN are ones that legends are made of.

Those that knew him well have said that he never said a word or showed any sign of the pain he had to be going through, and it came as a huge surprise the extent of what he had when he couldn't go any more. Lots of UCONN players learned to be physically and mentally strong from him. Good man and will be missed. I hope something gets on the wall somewhere in the facilities. Martin Strong.

National Strength coach of the year one year if I wasn't mistaken. I remember him talking about Zach Hurd as the prototype kid UConn recruited and built up. RIP.
