Caught this in Maryland last Saturday on my way to Topsail for vacation ... it looks even more pathetic than the red husky tongue! :)

I also like turtles.

But there's not a shot in that Spicy Jamaican Cock Flavored Soup Mix isn't the biggest marketing fail ever.

In the spirit of the Olympic Games I suggest they change the packaging to.....

Wow, whoever wrote the BY code set the word "co---ck" to read rooster. That's pretty lame. What if this was a badminton thread?

Shuttle rooster?

My family has been going to topsail every year for the past 20 years!

We just came back from our third year in a row! Topsail Beach the first year, Surf City the last 2. Except for a day trip to Wilmington, we went the whole week without getting into the car. Walk to restaurants, pubs, and stores. Sit on the deck and watch the kids in the surf ... can't be much better than that!

Every year has been in Surf City for us as well. You'd be amazed at how the island has grown the pst 20 years. When we first started going the Island was desolate. No supermarkets besides the IGA, no wings, waves, etc. and probably close to half the island was open property to build on. Words can't even do it justice. All that devlopement has come in probably the last 10-11 years.

It's just enough development and commercialism to keep it interesting, without being overwhelming. I hope it slows down because for me it's perfect. We'll hit Buddy's 2 or 3 times for drinks and apps, Mac's or Beauchaines each once, and IGA and ABC for the most important stuff.

Walked the pier on Friday and witnessed a fisherman pull this out of the water:

Yeah, it's great that everything is close. You won't find any overwhelmingly great food on the Island, but Beauchaines is pretty good. We usually head to Wilmington to walk the river, the downtown area, and grab a good meal once while we're there as well. Back in 1996 or 97 my parents had the opportunity to buy the condo we use stayed in for 70,000 dollars, but with3 kids to put through college they thought better of it. Unfortunately for them, at the peak of the housing market in 07-08 that condo was worth mid 500's. Last year when we were there, there were people shark fishing..they would kayak out and drop the line. They caught 2 5 foot sharks over the course of the week.

I'll let you know when we book next year! First round at Buddy's is on me ... as long as Katie is serving those Carolina Blondes!

Have you been to the Green Turtle in Sneads Ferry? My wife and I used to enjoy the views.

Looks like our friends at Rutgers have another entry in this contest

Scout Day

I don't have a problem with creative marketing. It's better than empty seats.
