I saw some other mention of the birthday on the net.

Not sure why - for a deceased person I always thought something like "100" might be noted - like "the late Ms. X was born 100 years ago today", but 101 seems odd.

Very true. And a gifted mathematician. Was co-holder of a patent on the frequency-shifting algorithms that make wi-fi communication work. She and her partner designed it for use in torpedo control in WWII.
