I just wanted to be the first to wish everyone a happy pi day tomorrow!

Myself, I think I will go for a nice slice of cherry with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Oh, wait...it is "pi", not "pie". Nevermind.

Thanks for the head's up. We are already having pizza pie, I'll have to pick up a banana cream for dessert.

I believe that is WPI. A truly nerdy fight song...

WPI Fight Song

Cosine, Secant, Tangent, Sine

E-I, Radical, Pi
Fight 'em, Fight 'em, WPI!

When I am in my office on pi day, I usually bring in a couple pies, but today I'm at home. Luckily, there is some pie.

Oh happy day.

I probalby shouldn't mention this, but I was able to double-check the numbers without looking them up...and know that if there were more room, the next digits are 288

Next year on Pi day you will be able to observe the following date and time:

3.14.15 9:26:53 or 3.141592653

This I believe will be the true end of the world.

Once upon a time I could recite Pi to 100 places.

In high school we had to know π to 3.1415927 - I can still get that far to this day, as well as squares to 25 and square roots to 10. That was "old school" math (literally).

Next year's Pi Day makes Y2K and the Aztec calendar thing last year look minor league by comparison - and tomorrow is the Ides of March...maybe the last one ever?

March is a scary month.

... I try to avoid rounding off, by making sure my
...Pie are squared
There used to be a reply - I think in my Navy days? - when somebody would say " πr² ", the reply would be, "No, pie aren't squared, pie are round. Cornbread are squared".

But looking at this picture, I may have to reevaluate that...

Andy – this is really good… and since my Dad was a destroyer Chief Commissary Steward (yeah, I’m a son a sea cook...) I’ll always defer to you guys on how to do this right… even if it seems to make a “mess.”

Makes me happy knowing how many math nerds are on the BY.

And I'm very excited to get the heads up on Pi Second coming up in about a year.

This thread made me hungry for pie..... thought about making two sweet potato pies to celebrate.... but that might take too much effort... but there is a very good chance I'll order a pizza pie for dinner
