Louisville beat UConn 74-71 in 1992-93 season, their first game against Geno. Then didn't beat them again for a LONG time.

I thought these teams played twice before. And Paige and Caitlin have had a belly full of each other in other venues. No mysteries here.

But it did take Dawn Staley 9 tries to get her first win vs. Geno & UConn...

From the history tab on the UConn women's basketball site, UConn beat Iowa both times they have met.

Where & when was the 32 point win by Iowa?

From the NCAA website: Iowa vs. UConn: Game time, TV channel for Women's Final Four.

"The series history of these two powerhouses only dates back to two matchups in just the last four seasons — UConn leads the all-time series 2-0. The teams first met in the Sweet 16 of the 2021 March Madness women's tournament, during which UConn routed the Hawkeyes by 20 points (92-72) and made a Final Four run. This was also the freshman season of stars Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark — in their first collegiate matchup against each other, the Bueckers and Clark put up 18 and 21 respective points.

The only other meeting between these two teams occurred a year and a half later in the championship game of the first Phil Knight Legacy women's tournament. UConn beat Iowa by a 86-79 margin, with Aaliyah Edwards notching a 20-point, six-assist performance for the Huskies."

When UConn beats Iowa to arrive at the Championship game, it gives the Huskies a chance at knocking off THREE #1's to win the Championship should South Carolina survive their game with NC State...

Not sure how many times a team gets to beat THREE #1's in one NCAA tournament... Can't be a #1 to do it...

UConn under Geno is 15-8 in the NCAAs vs. #1 seeds! Pretty impressive!

1989, The Amana-Hawkeye Classic in Iowa City.
Back when Coach Auriemma was looking to schedule better competition in developing his program, he reached out to Penn State Coach Rene Portland who flat out turned him down; did not think UConn was worthy of stepping on the court with Penn State; a slight that enraged Coach Auriemma. Undaunted, Coach Auriemma reached out to Coach Stringer at Iowa who immediately invited UConn to participate in the Amana-Hawkeye Classic. Ironically, before meeting Iowa in the Classic, UConn took the court against Penn State and won 93-84 in overtime. Understandably, the victory was gratifying to Coach Auriemma on many levels has never forgiven Coach Portland for the slight. UConn has never lost to Penn State in the Auriemma era.
However, UConn in 1989 was no match for Iowa and was soundly beaten 81-49. The two teams played again the following year; same outcome, closer score.
