Admittedly, this is an ill-informed and likely stupid take on the current Knicks, but the BY has a grand tradition of stupid takes, so here goes:

The 2024 Knicks are led by Brunson, with support from former Nova cohorts Hart and DiVincenzo, all of whom won NCs under Jay Wright. Heck, let's throw Arci in there too, even though he barely plays.

While that core certainly has a lot of talented help (e.g. Randle), how much of the current Knicks' success do you think is attributable to the "championship dna" of the former Wildcats?

And to take this to an extreme, if some team were to trade garbage pieces to acquire Sanogo, Hawk and AJax, do you think that trio would be able to influence their new team's culture, leading to a deep playoff run?

Sure it helps, but it takes several pieces to win Championships. You can win 4 chips in college and if you get drafted by Charlotte, good luck.

Randle being out is a huge blow. That team had a serious chance.

This Celtics team is all time on paper. 3 lock down defenders, they absolutely have to get it done right now. Plug and play any coach, they win 60 games.

The Celtics are the best team in the NBA because NBA GMs do not understand the actual analytics of where scoring and defense come from, and the Celtics were able to pick up Porzingis in exchange for a player that no one wanted. 5 years from now, after the Celtics have won at least 3 NBA Championships, that will look like the stupidest trade in NBA history for every NBA GM that didn't even bother to make an offer for one of the best centers of this generation. 80% of the NBA didn't want Porzingis at any price. Every one of those NBA GMs should be fired.

There are so many stupid GMs, who crunch numbers on a computer a rely too much on analytics, puttting UConn bias aside I guess I’m not that crazy for thinking that Sanogo, Hawkins and Ajax should be getting some minutes.

Celtics have some serious pressure to win it all. Mazzula gets fired under almost any other circumstance. Losing to Denver in 6 or 7 might be the only way he doesn't. Haven't seen a team this loaded since GS with Durant.

lol- before we crowned them to win three NBA Championships can they win one first? Can we see Porzingis get through the playoffs healthy? Can we see Tatum play well in a big spot?

I understand they had a tremendous regular season, but to me there are still some questions that need to be answered during playoff time, which is where it all comes down to.

Would be surprised if they don’t come out of the injury plagued eastern conference, but if the Nuggets are the matchup I would be surprised if the Celtics beat them.

Denver is very UConn esque with their ball movement, and looks to be starting a dynasty of their own. It’s all about ball movement + having 5 different guys who can take advantage of that.

Was bizzare what Billy Donovan decided to do with Sanogo after his 22 points 20 rebound game- the next game was the last game of the season verse the Knicks, which meant zero in standings or play-in games for the Bulls future & he plays Sanogo zero minutes. That was only Sanogo’s 9th game played & first game over 11 minutes & he puts up 22 & 20 & in the next game which means nothing he doesn’t play?

I understand maybe according to your metrics & analytics on Sanogo’s size & length- but there are players out there who just produce & know how to play basketball- give the guy some burn.

There are certainly “winning” players who do a lot that doesn’t show up both on and off the court but more important is that Brunson had a 1st team type season and that the other guys are good. None of our guys are at that level.

It takes time and luck. Brunson had already won a playoff series outplaying Donovan Mitchell, and it helps his dad was already on the Knicks coaching staff, Devo won a title with the Bucks. Hoping the Knicks can get to ECF to take another step. Glad Thibs finally got the memo to play Mccbride and sit Burks. Really want Clingan on the Knicks he would sit his rookie year but learn a ton from Ihart and Mitch but not realistic as he won’t fall past 10.

Let’s keep putting guys into the NBA every year, hopefully 4 guys in this years draft and not 5 if Karaban does go it would hurt but be great for program. Just a shame not to see Bouknight in the league and Kemba‘s knees going.

Jalen Brunson turned into a superstar scorer that’s averaging around 30 PPG for the last few months

DiVincenzo and Hart were 1st round picks, they brought in OG who was a 1st round pick

Randle is out but he was a lottery pick and multiple time all star

Team connectiveness and winning culture has certainly helped, but they’re winning because they have multiple all stars and really good role players. If Embiid can’t fully play this series then they should cake walk to the ECF, but remember they were down double digits early, at home. Can’t crown them too early

Brunson and Devo need to play better the bench won that game, Mitch was huge in that game. Realistically the only team that can beat the Celtics is Denver, hopefully Knicks get to ECF though take another, now the Rangers on the other hand its Stanley cup or bust.

Denver would already have two or three NBA championships if not for the Jamal Murray and MPJ injuries.

That’s what the NBA championship often comes down to, who has the very best guy. You can build a competitive team and do very well with finding that championship mentality, but those guys need to be or make themselves into superstars.
