just like she had done hundreds and hundreds of times while she was at Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis.

Unfortunately for the University of Connecticut freshman, Incarnate Word never played against anyone like Breanna Stewart, who came out of nowhere for the rejection and started a fast-break opportunity for her team during a recent Huskies’ workout.

“That didn’t happen to me in high school. Actually, I was the one doing that to others,” Collier said with a smile. “It’s good because I’m not going to be the tallest player on the court anymore and it’s getting me used to playing against those kind of players and what I have to do to be successful.”

“I want to be the best I can be to show Coach that I’m ready to play,” Collier said. “I need to work on everything to become a better all-around player. I have to get to a new level to compete with my teammates and college players.”

Napheesa has exactly the right attitude. I look for her to be an impact player starting as soon as next month.
