Sounds like the kind of argument someone sick of being in second place would make.
Simply a ridiculous slide.
I typically don't mind his average either. He's the 9th batter in a lineup that can mash. It is what it is, but things like his frozen pizza strikeout in the 2nd with none out and the bases loaded (IIRC) are infuriating. He had a similar at bat at the end of one of the Philly games too. He doesn't have to be another Mookie Betts, but is .260 and putting the ball in play too much to ask? IF JBJ's OBP was .350, his defense would make him near All-Star caliber.JBJ really showing there is more to the game than BA. Not that I'm minding his going up.
The tag at home? If he ran through, he'd be out. The slide put him 2 1/2 feet further from Romine.Still say it's faster to run through.

I think JBJ would be a real weapon if he bunted. I am sure that Cora is telling him the same thing and we will start to see some of it soon. If he learns how to bunt, he could be a .270/.280 hitter. Plenty good enough for me.What’s infuriating is he won’t bunt against the shift.
My friend who used to work at Baseball info solutions said bunts agakns the shift lead to a .666 ba while ground balls into the shift was like a .120 ba
He was two strides away. I think he makes the plate, it's debatable though. Take a lookThe tag at home? If he ran through, he'd be out. The slide put him 2 1/2 feet further from Romine.

Agree re the throw being off being the difference maker. I look at when he starts to slide and his loss of momentum and still think he gets there faster running through. Not that it matters though.Just watched it again. If JBJ runs through, he's toast. Heck, if the throw didn't travel up the 1st baseline so far, he may have been out even with the slide.
Never forget Jeremy Giambi (I still think he was safe. Not positive Posada touched him.).Agree re the throw being off being the difference maker. I look at when he starts to slide and his loss of momentum and still think he gets there faster running through. Not that it matters though.
(And I'd guess I'd be in the minority on that opinion.)

The story of that was much more the awful baseball play by Holder than his slide. It’s baseball 101 by the pitcher and he failed in a big way.
Honestly never heard of Holder before last night. OB said he was throwing well in his last few outings, but 7 runs without an out means you walk back to Wilkes-Barre. We might pick you up on I-684.
Great mojo thread. Thanks @60'sfan!
