I'm watching an MLB Network showing on Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. I was 11 when he was a rookie phenom in 1976 when he went 19-6. I just barely remember him being a big story. One of earliest baseball memories.

Talk about a sensation in Detroit! Seeing the fan reactions is great. Great show so far. He died in 2009 and this show is showing his family also watching his highlights with their commentary, along with other baseball greats of the past. Staub, Smoltz, W. Horton...etc...

This one is in a box in my basement, along with a couple hundred other classics:

There was a corny Aqua Velva commercial he did that I just barley remember. They showed it on the special.

I remember where I was when he went sick on Monday Night baseball. My old roommate was from Northborough and always said he was a good dude.

@Dove Intentional or accidental, could be one of my favorite misspellings of all time. A sign of rye wit.

@Waquoit ...To quote Big Al Anderson...

"What I did I did not mean. It was an accident."

Good catch, tho.
