Can Kevin Ollie save UConn from irrelevance?

RE Diallo/Ashton-Langford:
Sources with direct knowledge of both recruitments said Ollie's lack of effort cost him in both cases.
That about wraps this one up folks.
I agree 100%, we were all rooting for him to succeed and hoped that he would be our coach for the next two decades. But once it became apparent that that was never going to happen many of us realized that it was time to move on.Despite some ridiculous claims to the contrary here, no one wanted him to fail.
But all of the reasons listed in that article have been mentioned here for some time....he doesn’t work hard enough.
This is all on Kevin Ollie. All of it.
This goes against everything we know about Kevin Ollie who prides himself on being a hard worker. This is a fringe NBA player who worked and willed himself into a decent career and financial independence. I don’t understand how he could go to watch these coveted recruits only one time while Calipari saw them multiple times. We know he must have sent other staff but is this just that he delegated? Does he fly all over the country to see recruits? If he is not seeing Diallo because he is all over the US on other guys I guess that is a reason. The average fans like us don’t know his schedule, who does what and if he is really negligent or lazy. Is it possible that one of the the reasons for his divorce was not spending enough family time and he pulled back to compensate?Despite some ridiculous claims to the contrary here, no one wanted him to fail.

Pulling back for family time after the divorce seems counter-intuitive. I know his son is college age or older now, don't know about any other kids. For me, it goes back to too much success, too early. This goes against everything we know about Kevin Ollie who prides himself on being a hard worker. 99% of the disagreements about this here are because it became apparent to different people at different times, for a variety of different reasons.I agree 100%, we were all rooting for him to succeed and hoped that he would be our coach for the next two decades. He worked hard and is now complacent. Not that hard to understand. This goes against everything we know about Kevin Ollie who prides himself on being a hard worker. Being outworked on Diallo who was a 5 star burger boy in our backyard who had sincere interest interest in coming here is cause for firing alone. We knew about MAL and many of us didn’t use that as a major indictment on him and considered there were other factors. But to find out Diallo didn’t come here because Ollie was simply outworked is infuriatingThis goes against everything we know about Kevin Ollie who prides himself on being a hard worker. Firing the assistant coach with the best relationship with the players and who was working the hardest on recruiting seems like a head scratcher. It must have been all those junk zone defenses and academic plans Miller was forcing on everyone.Being outworked on Diallo who was a 5 star burger boy in our backyard who had sincere interest interest in coming here is cause for firing alone. Except for the part about Jalen's buzzer beater, anyway. We were into the tourney that year regardless.Really hard to argue with much of the article.

In retrospect we most likely would have gotten in without that prayer because Tulsa got in but as we know things don't always make sense with the committee, especially when it relates to UConn. The reality is, everyone was billing that as a bubble game at the time.Except for the part about Jalen's buzzer beater, anyway. We were into the tourney that year regardless.
