The Las Vegas money line (no points) does not like Team USA's chances tonight. Every casino lists the USA as the underdog, ranging from +150 to +211, meaning depending on where you bet you'd lay $100 to win anywhere between $150 and $211, if you like the USA. If you like the favorite Canada, their money line ranges from -204 to -278, so you'd have to risk between $204- $278 to win $100.

Las Vegas books are really really smart, and it's usually not a good idea to go against them. But this time I bet with my heart - so I took Team USA at +190. GO USA.

Only good sign from Vegas is that the money line on all previous Canada and USA games played this past week were absolutely ridiculous (like minus $1,000 and minus $2,400 in some games). So by comparison, this game is practically a pick 'em.)

The oddsmakers aren't necessarily basing the odds on which they they think will win, they odds are set to make the betting even on either side.

This is about the NBA but it should still apply here - Backwards Odds NBA Handicapping Analysis of Las Vegas NBA Odds and Betting Lines

Vegas wants to get $$$ wagered equally on both sides, sure, that would be ideal for them to make max money on the vig. They will move the line up or down (points or money line) in order to try to even the action, eliminate their risk, and cash in big time on the vig. But when a team is a 15 point favorite or whatever, that means the book thinks they will WIN.
