One of the dudes who does the sports show said he heard rumors FSU was in talks with the Big12 but because of the GOR they have to keep it quiet. In no way saying I buy this but its worth discussing here.

How would the rest of this cookie crumble? They (B12) taking Cincy too to get back to 12? They taking taking Cincy, FSU, us and UCF to get to 14 and lay ground in the east?

How would the ACC respond?

So FSU wins the NC in the ACC and then decides to switch to conference with no geographic appeal, much worse academics and which is in much worse demographic shape? All while trying to get out of the GOR that they voted for? Where there is smoke...there's a guy with a cigar talking nonsense.

If there is a conference in trouble, it's the Big XII, not the ACC. I don't see FSU going anywhere at this point. The Big XII doesn't have the chops to lure any school from any other P5 conference.

The guys on WHUS often confuse talk they hear with the voices in their heads caused by whatever they smoked the night before.

The only conference I can see FSU leaving the ACC for would be the SEC. That's it. That said, I think the B12 should expand ASAP. Adding UCF, USF, Cincinnati and BYU/Colorado St/Fresno St/UNLV would be a good play. I'd say UCONN but we'd be the extreme outlier in the B12 and I don't think they want to go this far east. But if they do, I'd dust off my cowboy boots for gamedays.

NOW Realignment, vol. 14. Complete with all your favorite hits like: "FSU and Clemson to the B12", "Texas is going independent", "UVA and UNC to the B1G", "NC State and VaTech to the SEC," "UNC and Duke to the SEC", "ND to the Big12", "OK and UT to the PAC," and the number 1 hit from 2013 - "the ACC is dead."

FSU to the Big12 isn't the craziest thing in the world. It's probably not going to happen, but it's not the craziest. You're essentially switching out games in the following manner:

West Virginia for BC
Texas Tech for Miami* (Miami would likely become an OOC game like Florida though)
Oklahoma for Virginia
Texas for Louisville
Oklahoma State for Syracuse
Baylor for Wake Forest
Kansas State for NC State
Iowa State for Clemson

Assuming the Miami game gets made up in the OOC, the only game they are truly missing is Clemson (unless of course Clemson is the team that goes with them!). Travel will increase somewhat, but not a lot, considering that three of the teams on their 2014 in-conference schedule are north of the Mason-Dixon (BC, Cuse, Louisville). And assuming that the Big12 would get a substantial increase in payout, FSU would make more money (I believe both the ACC and Big12 are very close in payout currently). FSU / Texas and FSU / Oklahoma are guaranteed national interest games.

Again, it's probably not going to happen.....but it's not crazy...

Is this the show that is on right after the Rastafarian Hour? Might explain the flow of the discussion.

Literally no incentive for FSU to challenge the GOR they signed. Even less incentive for them to forgo ACC $... Sooooo...

There's also no reason for FSU to go from being the top team of the ACC to fighting for the top with OK/Tx/Baylor/KState.

FSU can win another title with Jameis and put FSU ahead of UF in the state of Florida, especially if Winston wins the next two titles. They are tied at 3 titles a piece. Why leave the ACC?

Agree, but there is something green that causes people to do stupid things, sometimes against their own self-interest

President Barron has already addressed FSU and the Big 12...

1...FSU has few alumni in the Big 12 footprint outside of Dallas and Houston...FSU's alumni are up the east coast, New York, Chicago. The heaviest concentrations in North Carolina and Georgia.

2...FSU's recruiting grounds are in the east...the southeast and up the east coast, including Maryland, New Jersey.

3...FSU's academic side is adamantly opposed to joining the Big 12,

4...And Barron went straight to the football fan's heart when he said that he didn't think the fans would be that excited to play a divisional line up of Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and WVU.

5...And, slipping in the dagger, he wondered if FSU's former problems with a cabal in North Carolina would come back in a magnified form with Texas and it's little sisters in Texas firmly in charge.

Realignment rumors are still like catnip for listeners or readers. Make one up, and people will listen/read for the next few weeks hoping to hear a follow up on the "rumor".

Yesterday we have the rumor from the radio station about Florida State and the Big 12. And today we something from a West Virginia newspaper with Luck saying "Big 12 happy at 10 teams":

http://www.newsandsentinel.com/page.../Luck--Big-12-happy-at-10-teams.html?nav=5064

Hmmm.... That came out awfully fast. Luck seems just a little bit too jolly about not having any conference schools in West Virginia's region. Luck's quotes are not unlike the way the SEC made a point about being happy at having 12 and 13 schools just before Texas A&M and Missouri were invited. It's standard procedure to make announcements that you aren't interested in new members before inviting new members to avoid tortious interference lawsuits. Maybe Florida State is biding their time waiting to see what happens with the Maryland lawsuit. They would have the same out that Maryland would have...

And we have the Miami AD comenting in an interview today raving about how happy Miami is in the ACC and how it is a perfect fit. One has to do a double take when he talks like this. It must be that he's secretly looking to leave. Those WV Dudes will have Miami going to the SEC by the end of the week.

Maybe FSU wants to go to the Big 12 and maybe Elvis is alive and kicking back at his chateau in Switzerland...

Good grief folks...the Dude disease is endemic.

I would say that FL State's season in the Acc looked a lot like the Uconn womens regular season. Boring and just waiting for the post season. But at least there is tailgating before football to ease the boredom. I am not saying the Big 12 would be any better but they must be getting bored of the Acc again. Obviously the only cure is the SEC and it just isn't likely to happen for them.

The dudism disease is absolutely endemic....

It's a form of CR Tourrette's syndrome...whereby the afflicted start prophesizing absolute unsupported drivel...

And it highly contagious. It passes from individual to individual like typhoid.
