I'm new to Twitter.

Never too late to cast spite votes, I suppose.

That's true. Only a UConn fan could think that there's an argument that we have a better all-time basketball program than UNC.

When you.look at the success of the Uconn program in the short term, not too many programs can match us. On a long term perspective, it gets a little harder.

I think that is fine. We made the final 4 and Kansas, Indiana, Arizona, UCLA, Syracuse did not. I like our prospects going forward better than UNC's. Even before the scandal, they were slipping. And their coach isn't as good as KO.

Wait, how the hell did we beat UCLA?
UConn easily outclasses UCLA in the modern era i.e. 30 years. I don't think people still care very much about the 60s and early 70s.

Since 1985 when the tournament expanded to 64 teams (UConn-UCLA)
NC: 4-1
FF: 5-4
EE: 10-6
SS: 13-13

If UCLA didn't have Sam Gilbert throwing money, hookers, and cars at recruits, they would be just another program.

I understand that, and I agree. But the poll is the "Best All-Time College Basketball Program"... and no one tops 11 National Championships.
If we're talking the last 30 years, I would regretfully say 1 Duke, then probably UNC at 2 then UConn at 3.

When you talk pro football it all about the super bowl era. Same should apply to college basketball. You should look at the last 30 years when they expanded to 64 teams and the 3 point shot game into the game. Prior to 1985 BB championship was much different. UCLA won when only 25 teams were playing and most of the games were on the west coast. Some teams would turn down an invite and play in the NIT because it cost too much to travel to Cal..

You've gotten a few answers but none have been correct. The reason we beat UCLA is that west coast does not care very much about college basketball and there are probably far fewer west coast twitter folks following. I live in LA and trying to drum up conversation about the NCAA tournament in March is harder than getting a drink in Utah after dark.

I think you're right. Safe to say the state of Connecticut cares more about college basketball than Los Angeles. After all, we've got nothing else going on.
