when the NCAA hammer drops on UNC?
Don't think the blue blood helps their women's program though...aren't they half thrown under the bus by the school already?rotflmao
The NCAA will not touch a blue blood.
As of the morning of 12/23:
- Summitt . 1098
- Tara ..... 980 + 09 = 989
- Hatchell . 975 + 09 = 984
- Stringer . 971 + 03 = 974
- Stevens .. 957 + 10 = 967
- Geno ..... 955 + 11 = 966
- Conradt .. 900
Yes. UNC will voluntarily vacate every single win in the program's history if it means protecting the football and Coach K's program. Destroying their WCBB program is merely the cost of doing business in today's college athletics world. Hatchell and her program will be the pound of flesh that UNC hopes will satiate the NCAA.Don't think the blue blood helps their women's program though...aren't they half thrown under the bus by the school already?

Exactly. If they do anything to UNC at all -- which I doubt -- they are likely to scapegoat the women.Yes. It seems a near certainty at this point that Geno will overtake Stringer this season. Barring drastic improvement, it's hard to imagine Rutgers even getting to .500 in the Big 10, even if it is the weakest of the "power 5." The games against Wisconsin (twice), Illinois, Iowa (twice) and Nebraska are certainly winnable for Rutgers, but C-Viv would probably need to win at least 11 games (and probably more) in the Big 10 regular season plus conference tournament to even stay tied with Geno heading into the NCAAs. If she can snag a bid to the WNIT (though it seems unlikely) or one of the lesser postseason tournaments, that could change the calculus.
It is complicated. A portion of the fan base, many of whom never liked her to begin with, are proactively wanting her gone.I don't think Rutgers wins more than 9 games this year; certainly no WNIT bid. Incidentally, 9 wins (9-20) was the last time Stringer had a losing season, about 15 years ago. I'm imagine the program would like to give her another year to reach the 1ooo win plateau, but with the current state of the roster, there's no guarantee she gets 15-20 wins next year.
Well not the men's team anyway...rotflmao

If this had happened at UConn the basketball progams would already be shut down, and Geno and Kevin would be in the unemployment line and given show-causes.The NCAA has had years to investigate UNC. In the meantime they have investigated and ruled on many other cases. And yet no penalty against UNC. There is ample reason to be skeptical that anything will ever happen.
? The Husky men were banned from post-season play because of text messages sent to a guy that never played a single game at UConn. And the four time national championship winning UConn men are considered blue bloods.rotflmao

I wonder how many more wins. That Pat would have had. Had she not gotten health problems.
Again, it is complicated. I'm not sure how much she has driven the program into the ground and how much a variety of circumstances have led to where it is at now, as I say, there are a variety of factors. How on earth is CViv clearing a$700,000/year base salary?? She has driven the Rutgers program into the ground after 10-12 good years. I know she got very defensive about taking a pay cut, but the program has been dreadful for the last several years and even with better talent, doesn't appear to be in any shape to become a Sweet 16 squad in the next 3-4 years. Rutgers athletics are miserable to begin with, but that money could be used to bring in a better coach who will produce better results.
