Would they have an exit fee if they are in a conference with the same name?

I think any "fee" they are paying will be the amount that the pay for the Big East name, which will be the C7's after this year (I believe July is the official timeframe).

There will be exit fees and a fee for the use of the Big East name.

Maybe it's just me but it sure seems like everyone can't wait to leave UConn behind. Wow are we odd man out or what.

Does this mean Rutgers will go to BigTen next year instead 2015?

UCONN will cash in on the exit fees and name rights fees. Then they will use the money to by into the ACC. It won't cost them a dime. They might even make some money on the deal! Brilliant!

If my memory is correct, the non-football schools may not have to pay an exit fee. Shortly after the first ACC raid, under Tranghese, the conference was set up to allow either the football schools or the only basketball schools to break off if the conference "was not working"; without a penalty fee.

It's amazing, but if you ranked the winners and losers in conference realignment, UConn would absolutely, positively be at the very bottom of the list.

We could not have dreamed up this nightmare if we had tried.

Given that ND is leaving anyway, the conference UConn WBB ends up in couldn't be any worse that what the BE is today. As long as Coach A is around, recruits and big games will come. Though GA won't be around forever, unfortunately.

Sounds like ND will leave after this season as well, either moving up its entry in to the ACC or playing with the C7 for a year.

Rutgers will join another conference it cannot compete in after next year. Born on third base and constantly picked off trying to steal home.

Are you kidding? The current BE could land 8 teams in the tournament. 6 of those teams will be gone. In their place will come just 1-2 teams (SMU & Tulane) that could make the tourney. BE conference games will become a snooze fest.

Who exactly will we play next season?
Especially during the so-called conference time.

So here's what probably happens next year:

18 game conference schedule, same as this year (I think). Everyone home and away.

Louisville
Rutgers
UCF
USF
Cincinnati
Memphis
Temple
SMU
Houston
MAAAAYBE ND. If they leave? Tulane.

UConn wins every game by 40-80.

I don't want to be mean, and I'm more panicky than most, but you fine ladies and gentlemen have largely stayed out of the Conference Realignment stuff. But you need to get into it, you need to get into it now and you need to be prepared. There is a storm coming. And it's big enough to wash away the program's relevence, even with Geno. Their RPI number is going to be a lead anchor, even if they play the entire top 5 on the road.

Here's what I know: All the hand wringing and angst displayed on this board has had and will have zero effect on the eventual outcome.
