Nice to see. Both had disappointing seasons. But they both have the physical skills to play at the next level. Geremy needs to run below 4.7 Byron needs to excel in drills.

Congrats to both. Felt bad their senior years were a total transition year, as both ha e been amongst the best at their positions at UConn especially Davis.

Aaron Hernandez ran a 4.75 at the combine.

I think Geremy should be looking at that hybrid position rather than straight WR.

That's very interesting. Davis is about as big and strong a WR as you will see. Not sure how big he is now, but at ~235 he does start to look like an AH type.

Hernandez is was a TE. Davis is a WR. He is nowhere near big enough to be a NFL TE. Plus he never played the position and he doesn't have the blocking skills.

His best bet for making the league s as a possession WR. His draft stock rises the faster he runs. If he runs 4.6 he could go first four rounds. If he runs over 4.7 he is a seventh round UDFA type.

I agree with palatine here. Davis hips too narrow to seem to able to bulk up to TE. He's got solid hands though.

Davis is a good player, but Aaron Hernandez was a premium college player with a ceiling that isn't in the same universe.

How big do you think Hernandez was? 6'1" And not nearly as strong as Davis.

And a 4.64 at Florida's pro day. 6'1" 245 lb a bit undersized but sure had a ton of success in Belichick's system.

What leads you to believe that? Hernandez played TE in college. Typically, may not be the case with every TE, but I would say TE's are usually stronger than WR's as they are needed to block. FWIW, Hernandez put up 30 reps at his pro day. If you will remember just last season, the senior line men from UConn couldn't even come close to that number.

Hernandez was never tight to the line for the Patriots. He was in the slot or out wide, sometimes in the backfield. Not much blocking. He was 6'1 about 235-240.

I'll take the combine # over the unofficial one.

Hernandez still had/has 30 pounds on Davis, listed at 6'3 216. Could Davis find a similar role in the NFL?

No. Davis is a wide receiver. Strengths are getting position and shielding his body from the defender.

I think bottom line for him is 40 time. If he runs well, he gets drafted in the 5-7 range. If he doesnt, he is an UDFA.

Ok he was listed at 6'2 243, didn't run the 40 at the combine(can't seem to find a time anywhere), so you only have his pro day numbers to look at.

I am very interested to see where Jones goes. He runs a sold 40, I think 3rd round is not out of question. Offers position flexibility.

Is he going to be healed enough post surgery to compete in all drills, bench press etc?

I would think he could run and do 3 cone drill. Bench, probably not.

I really think a team is going to get a steal with Jones.

Agreed. Every year we see plenty of big receivers who don't have the speed to separate at the NFL level and that is not something that NFL teams place a premium on. If he can surprise people with a really solid time then he is going to turn some heads. If not, he's probably just going to be hoping he gets drafted.

Geremy Davis cannot play TE. He is 210 pounds.

This conversation has no basis in reality.
