I'm really looking forward to this matchup. Who will get the better of who? and Why? They are both athletic guards who could really D it up. So far Ryan has shown he is the best player on the court in games he's played in. Maybe the best all round player in college BB.

It depends on the front court doesn't it?

I never really bought the hype around Staten. We'll see today. Boat will bring the high intensity on-ball defense though, that usually exposes a lot of overrated guards (Harrison, Wilbekin, Valentine, Atkins, etc).

It is a good matchup. Two of legit the best pg's in the country. I think hamilton and purvis are going to be working at a nice size advantage, scoring wont be a problem. they will have point guards guarding them. Going to have to hit the glass and gain possessions ; facey gotta bring his big boy pants again

A little off topic, but the Boatright vs Hinds threads on the Rivals' message boards were epic a few years ago. West Virginia fans were absolutely convinced that Hinds was the better player, even well into their respective sophomore seasons when Boatright was clearly better, and had outplayed Hinds head to head. Funny to look back at it now.

Huggins must be kicking himself for recruiting Hinds (now averaging 7 points and 2 rebounds at UMass). He could have had the Illinois Mr. Basketball and potential college All-American.

Boat might have been AA caliber regardless, but IMI I think if anyone should be kicking themselves it should be Hinds for not coming to UConn. I think Boat is at least partially in debt to Ollie, Calhoun, and UConn for being the man and player he is today.
